Greetings!

My name is Insignia and I am currently the acting Community Manager of Havoc Networks. Our management team is interested in hiring a long-term developer for our new server on Minecraft.

The Server will be a custom game mode we are naming Spaceblock(Not Skyblock, nor is it even similar). The game mode will be based on the expansion of skill trees and resource collection, with new planets being opened up when certain places within the game progression are reached.

The Server will be big on the economy and will be mostly player-inflated. This is going to be quite a new/unique idea, so it's quite a jump.

Position Description:
  • Development of custom, server-specific plugins.
    • This will not be your main focus; We will not be depending on you for all content.
  • Configuration of previously purchased server plugins.
  • Communicate issues and ideas to the Havoc Networks management team, and provide tips/plugin suggestions.
  • Work alongside other possible hired-developers.
  • Work will not be daily, and you will be contacted when jobs are needed. You will be in our official Discord and will be in a communication loop between the Management team and yourself.
  • Provide progress-reports on large-scale projects when requested. Actively work on projects when required ( But we understand personal responsibilities :) )

Provided Resources:

You will be provided with the following resources:

  • Access to a development server ( To your own discretion )
  • Lots of time.
  • Contact information to the Havoc Networks management team and each individual manager.
  • Anything else that you need that we can provide you.

Pay Wages:

Unlike other positions you may have worked, this position will not be paid based on an hourly salary. Payments will be based on a provided development timeline. Each project has a set payment amount.

After 3 projects have been completed/checked off your development timeline, payments will be received in the form of a 50% upfront payment, with the concluding 50% received after each project is completed. This is to ensure the legitimacy of your position.

After a 72-hour payment delay from the initially promised payment time, a $10.00 USD late-fee fine will be issued to you on behalf of Havoc Servers.

We do this to avoid over-complicating the payment process with hourly payments. Know that work will not be underpaid.

If you are interested in speaking more about this position, please message Insignia#2216 on Discord, prepared with a resume/portfolio.

Upon agreement to the position, you will be asked to sign a contract to ensure the security of both us and you. We want only the best for our developers, so that is what we are trying to provide.

If interested, we can supply you with a backstory/lore context document to make understanding easier.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Then could you re-phrase it, it looks seemingly close to "We can pay what we want"

It all depends on how you interpret the message. I prefer not to make it painstakingly obvious as there are multiple context clues that allow you to understand what message(s) we are attempting to convey.

I personally believe that if you were to read the entirety of the information before and after that one small quote, that you would understand what we are trying to say.

Could you just rephrase it then?

You're overcomplicating the quote. There's literally nothing wrong with it. If people wishing to be hired have an issue with that one small sentence, then we would rather not have them on our team.

Unlike other positions you may have worked, this position will not be paid based on an hourly salary. Payments will be received based on the quality of work per/project. Each time you complete a job, payment will be received.

(ex: You finish developing a fast-transportation plugin. Based on the perfection of your work and the short time it took for completion, you will be paid $35.00 USD)

Sounds odd to pay after the plugin has been completed. If I were to apply and I am sure a lot of others, I'd want a 50% down payment for any project I start, regardless of the server unless contracts are signed stating I will be given a guaranteed pay. Why are you only paying after? That provides no security to us, the developers, so you could easily just run off with said plugin/source if you really wanted to.

Contracts are being developed as I am writing this message for those who are interested in the position. Payment will be guaranteed, and delayed payments exceeding 72 hours will be provided a late-fine on behalf of Havoc Servers of roughly $10.00.

However, we do notice your point and have acknowledged it. We're reforming our contracts to include a 50% upfront payment and the other 50% after each project is completed. The downpayment might be lowered to 30-40%, however, we are still discussing the conditions.

Thank you for your reply!

Definitely sounds like you can pay what you want...

Please, I do not wish to repeat myself any longer.

Read replies stated above and if you are going to comment, read the entirety of the post and not just take one sentence out of context.

EDIT: For additional context, if we're paying half/half, that obviously means there's a mutual agreement and set payment total. Meaning, we're discussing payments before the project is even started. Unless we're paying what we want for half and half too.

Why when I and others asked you to rephrase it didn't you just say that...

Because it says it in replies not high above yours and in the post itself?

I believe you are misinterpreting what we said and taking this quote out of context.
Speaking from the perspective of someone who spent a good few years developing, you might be able to say the said developer's work will be paid well however it's not up to you to determine what being payed well means because for one developer a plugin might be worth $10 however to someone with more experience and provides more quality their work might be worth $60-70 if that makes sense.
