I have tried to use ProtocolSupport to add support for 1.7.10 clients. Although, ProtocolSupport has too many issues with potions. Does anyone know, or can anyone make an alternative way of supporting 1.7 clients?

How about, run a 1.7 server because it already allows 1.8!

Maybe just stop using incredibly outdated versions. 1.9 was not really that bad. I mean, more strategy is now involved in pvp rather than just spam clicking. Also, some of the more recent updates, 1.11 and 1.12 have been pretty good. I mean, the color variety for building is great, but people hate just to be like everybody else, whethere they like an update or not. People just give hate. Off topic, but yeah, have you ever considered updating. 1.8 won't last forever.

The only options I'm aware of are:

  • 1.8 Spigot/Bukkit server running ProtocolSupport v4.22.1
  • 1.7.10 Spigot/Bukkit with the 1.8 protocol hack
  • 1.9+ server using the latest version of ProtocolSupport.

I'm confused, why do you want to host a 1.8 server and support 1.7 "backwards" and not just have it 1.7.10 with the 1.8 support that it normally has?
