$10,000 - Investing Advice

I'm 16 and have a little bit more than $10,000 to my name right now. At the moment, it's just sitting in my bank, earning mere cents in interest. I tried to invest in the stock market, but when I lost $800 (the first few hours after I bought the stock, I was up about $300. I got greedy and didn't sell it when I should've and ended up losing my entire initial investment), my mom said I could no longer invest until I got older. I want to invest this money in a low-risk environment (nothing minecraft or game related please). If anyone has any advice, feel free to share.

Honestly, just talk to a financial advisor. 90% of people on here are younger then you and you shouldn't be taking financial advice from them. Go over to your bank and talk to someone there.

This post is more catered to those who are adults and have experience with this sort of thing. I've talked to my bank, but I don't really feel like putting my money in a CD or something of that sort. If anyone has any unique ideas that have worked for them, I'd like to hear.

What's your bank's interest rate? That's just about the only non-risk environment you're going to get.

I would find a bank offering compound interest, better to build $. Look into bonds if you are willing to build $ while waiting 10,15,30 yrs. You can always play safe stocks. Look at key financial ratios, expectations and previous earnings. Its really not as easy as everyone thinks.
