Looking to get back in the community, and want to takeover a nice, no-shrills server with a good community.

I'm not looking for a super cut throat "elite server" with a bunch of insane plug-ins and crazy spawn or anything like that. I'm an OG player (was mainly active in 2012/2013 towny and creative servers), and just want to bring back the feeling I used to get from the game. I've tried to get back into the game many times, but everytime I find nothing but a bunch of super commercialized servers, where on the player side the only goal is to be the "best", and admin side the only goal is to make money. Servers full of a bunch of unnecessary ranks, kits, donation privileges, etc. It's not fun to me.

Profitability isn't relevant, I'd just like it to be able to sustain itself. The only thing I'm looking for is a good, mature, friendly, and loyal community.

Budget is negotiable, PM me if you've got what I'm looking for.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

I’m a huge towny fan, would love to play on your server if you get one or know any!

A little bit of added info: I'm fairly close with 2 MC YouTubers (1m and 6m subs respectively), and I'm confident the server will get some solid publicity through them.

I've never actually understood Towny xd

and if you have 2 friends that could record on the server why not just make it yourself instead of buying an old one?

Why not just find a really good server out there that gives you that feeling and support it? It seems like you're not wanting to own a server for business reasons, but moreso personal enjoyment you used to get as a player.

Though I do completely understand (and personally feel the same) that not all servers are meant for business reasons and can definitely be used for personal enjoyment, I love owning servers for more than just business reasons myself, just thought I'd ask for my own curiosity.

Because the chances of them - friends of mine or not - recording on a brand new server are nil. They need content to record, so while they can help grow it, it has to have a base.

never understood it because you never played Minecraft from 2012-2015, towny was more popular than factions and anything else today, it was every server. Back then Minecraft wasn't big and it was played in a different way, you usually stuck to one server and built towns like legit towns, and economy was usually a big deal. No one will understand except for those who played in 2012

Early Minecraft was focused more on survival and community, friendship and just enjoying the game altogether, which is essentially what Towny entails, it's a community-focused server that has a progression that you can experience with friends. I've never been a towny player but understood why it's popular amongst people who love being involved with a community more than e.g. Factions.

Simply enough, I haven't found a server that's exactly what I'm looking for. Hence why I want to take one with a good base and slightly shift it to what I am looking for.

Servers should NEVER be a business venture. It's actually illegal, but people tend to disregard that.

Are you talking about if servers break EULA? As far as I know, profiting off of Minecraft isn't illegal, but breaking the EULA is well...breaking the EULA.

Also agreed with Tommy, I'll feel bad if I continue sending responses on your thread, so I'll be doing the same.

Find me a person running a server completely complying with EULA, copyright laws, fair use, and proper marketing/tax laws, and I'll find you 1000 that don't.

EDIT: Was confused by your last statement - I thought you were asking me to find one, but I understand that you were pointing out the fact that there's 1000x more for every single EULA compliant server there is, I've deleted what I said previously and replaced it with this edit message.

Sure, I'm running a Minecraft server operated by an S Corporation near Atlanta, GA. We're creating our own game and using Minecraft to do so, I don't want to advertise my server to you because I'd feel scummy, but we have a legal team and so far, nothing we have done is breaking EULA.
I'm sure there are plenty of servers that do what they can be legitimate, but there are so many factors. Have some crate system in your game based on donations? Boom, you potentially violated gambling laws for a player's country. You ban someone for hacking who has purchased something? Boom, you just revoked access to a product, hope you have proper legal documentation and agreements. You're giving people advantageous benefits for "donating" and pocketing the money? Tax evasion isn't cool.

Not saying that you do any of that, it's just a few common examples. Hence why I don't want any of that.
