SUMMARY:

I need people interested to learn programming with others to help a team win 15,000 USD in a huge competition for BEGINNERS.
Must-know:
  1. We work in the Ylands editor
  2. Bohemia Interactive has given us 20 copies of Ylands to give out to those interested
  3. We split the winnings between those who help
  4. We use visual scripting.
To join:

1) If that sounds even slightly interesting to you, respond with "Interesting" or "I am in" to get priority access to the game copies (we lend them out).
2) Message RedEagle_P1#4480 & say "I want to learn programming"

The 15,000 USD competition:

Bohemia Interactive is making a sandbox survival game that will launch later this year. The game is as much a game-engine as a game. You can build your own city roleplay, pvp, survival game, tetris etc. in its editor without using a single mod.

Tencent, the largest game company in the world, is seeking to expand their sandbox portfolio and has decided to push this game big-time in China.

Therefore, a 15,000 USD competition is being done right now.

P1 is taking on the challenge:

P1 is a casual, non-toxic gaming community. We won the competition last time and we hope to do so again.
What does Visual Scripting look like?

06f80f73f05b7553f94891919d41c9b0.gif

Once you learn more it grows in complexity.

Can it help me learn how to program?

Some of the biggest issues when learning programming are:
  1. Its extremely precise
  2. You are overwhelmed by options
  3. You do a lot of work for little reward at the start
Visual scripting will teach you the basics of understanding how programs work without forcing you to be super-precise. Having a limited set of options and being able to see the result of your work quickly simplifies the challenge and draws you in.

Moreover, our whole community will be helping you so you don't get stuck on that one bug forever.
What kind of people we are looking for:

Even though I have used a lot of sensational titles so far, that's not really who we are. We are casual game-dev-interested people wanting to learn from each other.

How is P1 different?

We don't take an upfront cut but rather share the winnings equally based on how much time and effort people put in. We pride ourselves on being open, democratic and not using but caring about people.

We don't take absurd management fees or use up people. We value each other, we are like a family of mature gamers doing cool things together.
How does payment work?

To over simplify: We clock hours and split winnings based on hours invested.
What do people think about P1 so far?

I asked them the other day. Click the image:

What is Ylands?

A survival, crafting and mining game like Minecraft intended to have a depth to satisfy adults while having the friendliness to entertain kids.

Ok I am ready to join!

FAQ:
What makes you different?
Rather than depending on a few professionals, we rely on a large community that all contributes little bits in a casual, just-for-fun fashion. Only leaders are subject to stringent deadlines.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

It looks like it's something similar to Sketch. I used to program with that in school and it is a really good beginning for people who want to learn how to program. However, skilled programmers might find this a bit boring. Good Luck, this sounds very interesting.

Spot on! Yes, its too simple for pros but really fun for new people. It's been a great learning experience for me personally. Also Ylands has a really mature community so P1 Ylands has incredible mature people which is awesome :)

I will say we could use a few pros to help teach the new people what's up.

I know I'm a new member but :p

I am a long time member of P1 and unlike many others they pay, and they actually pay the sum you were told you would receive. Ylands takes 3 days to learn, 7 to master and 14 to start doing very advanced stuff. The editor is like scratch but better, even a dimwit like me can figure it out

I'd be happy to chat with any interested people on discord about this at any time, add me Alrea_#5964!

Hasn't ylands been out for years? I remember watching a series's on this game. It seems interesting and I might look into applying soon.
You have been able to buy it since the really early days but until recently it was super broken. They plan a major marketing campaign on leaving early access which should be soon.

Well, i'm studying Information Tech, and programming is one of my hobbies. Have been studying java this year while self-training on python implement in Cinema 4D xpresso node type. I say i'm interested in giving this a shot.

Also for the sake of learning more into programming things

I'm in. I've found out programming and what it can do and I program at least 1-2 hours a day since a month ago. So that means I'm still curious with a lot of things about programming and I think it can help me with some things through this.

Thanks Cian for awarding us WINNER :) Please tell the world what you think so far :D

Awesome man, how far along are you in the courses :D
I've been with P1 for about 3-4 days so far & I'm absolutely loving it, the community is amazing, so nice & welcoming. I get the chances of doing game testing / qa aswell as working as a team in which I would have never gotten to do if I hadn't joined P1. I'm not told or forced to say this, I'm saying this because it's a really nice idea & community that P1 has to offer. Y'all should really test it out, I'm only on Course 2 but still enjoying alot!
