Merry Christmas! We are very glad to be bringing you a new announcement just a few weeks after the last one.
MC-Market Contest
It's been awhile since our last MC-Market Contest (over a year now!), so it's time for another. This contest will be different to all of the other ones we have had in the past because this time more than one medium can be submitted! You can submit drawn artwork, renders or GFX, written stories, builds, animations, videos, cinematics, plugins, you name it!
The theme for this contest will be '2016', where you may create something or a set of things about 2016 that was the most significant (whether that's the US Presidential Election or Harambe!). Submissions for this must be made by the 8th of January, which 2 weeks after this announcement. The rules for the contest are as follows:
- All submissions must be created by yourself. If you've used assets, please note it in a spoiler
- This is a solo contest - which means you may not work in groups.
- We only allow 1 submission per user.
- Please do not submit work for others. Doing so will disqualify both users.
- Keep all creations appropriate and PG.
Right now you may be wondering how we're planning on judging the submissions, they will be given a mark out of 43 points by our staff team and then averaged out to deem a winner. The 43 points are allocated in the following way:

This mark is given to the relevance of your creation and its ability to link and successfully portray the given theme of ‘2016’. The more relevant it is to the theme, the more points you will receive out of 10.
Originality and Creativity: / 10
We value originality and promote creativity. Have fun with your entry- you only have 1 shot at this! The more original or creative your submission is, the more points you will receive out of 10.
Execution: / 10
How finished, professional, polished is your submission? Does your submission portray what you want it to to the audience? The more polished your submission is, the more points you will receive out of 10.
Effort: /10
We understand that some mediums take a lot more work than others. We also understand that your medium of work you choose to submit for this contest may not have been something that you’re familiar with. Because of that, we have a mark for effort. These marks may be boosted if you provide some form of WIP or explanation w/ your submission in a spoiler.

This is a bit of a wild card and something we’ll keep a secret as to how we’re judging and giving points for. We’ll release the bonus info when we announce the winners. However, a hint-- Lemon Trees and other memes. Good luck!

Over the past few months, a suggestion made by y0jJJyeDYzRTYomFX has been gaining more and more popularity, to the point where it's now the most viewed suggestion ever made in the history of MC-Market. Today I'm very proud to announce that a Chrome Browser extension has been developed by y0jJJyeDYzRTYomFX and Wvisoecj. The extension allows for you to select a very sleek and modern theme for MC-Market, which wouldn't be possible to add as a regular theme with the restrictions that xenForo has.
This extension has been planned and created over several months with many beta testers. The beta testers were: TechBanana, lAkjtzAZ0, Arcrimonia, rexs123, y0jJJyeDYzRTYomFX, Wvisoecj, myself, 1amDev, mattrick, Elcro, Chearful, TheLightDev, Candy, @NikDev, and Hoot. Without these beautiful people, the addon wouldn't be as bug-free as it is. Right now, there is currently one theme that you can switch to, but in the future, it's planned to add much more.

Minecraft Server Revamped
As most of you are aware, MC-Market has a Minecraft server, which has been down for the past several weeks. During that time, its new admin, Justis, in addition to other server changes, has been working on the development of a new plugin for us which would resolve the infamous unfinished shop issue, having been a result of item abuse.
This new plugin will allow players to /buy and /sell every item in the game, without worry of abuse because prices of each item will automatically adjust depending on supply and demand with each purchase/sale. This plugin also offers a /trade command, allowing players to trade items across the server from within a simple inventory; inviting as many members as they wish.
Also, big thanks to Anvilnode for hosting our server, and our very own Bryce, for making us a custom whitelisting plugin, which will link MC-Market’s account association with the MC-Market server’s whitelist, and Allowing for instant whitelisting.This will be especially helpful since we expect to see an increase in players joining as a result of our lifting the Premium or Supreme upgrade requirement. All MC-Members will be able to join the MC-Market server now. All previously whitelisted accounts have been removed.

In addition to all of this, the most important change of all will be in how the server is run. From this point forward, server administration will be scheduling regular community events, in which competitions, games, giveaways and more will be available to player to participate in. We’re hoping for a lot of ideas from the community to be offered up in the MCM Server forum for what sort of events you’d like to have hosted. Custom plugins will be developed to assist in the management of these events, so feel free to get creative.
This massive server update is planned to be released on the 1st of January. So add play.mc-market.org or mc.mc-market.org to your serverlist and look forward to an awesome 2017.

- Rules were rewritten. Most significantly, griefing is no longer an offence. We’ll be considering any unclaimed territory free territory; therefore griefing isn’t even possible. All players previously banned for griefing have been unbanned.
Here are the only rules you’ll need to worry about:
- Claims settings updated. Claim block prices have been cut in half; only $2.5 for a claim block now; and you earn six claim blocks per hour just by being on the server, which you can sell or use, your choice. Claims can now be as small as 2x2; and explosions are now enabled in unclaimed territory, claiming added to end and nether.
- Starter kits are updated. All starter tools are now iron; also 100 claim blocks and $100 on the first join.
- The kits /kit food and /kit claim have been introduced to all player ranks. Both are executable every 60 seconds. The claim kit gives you the golden shovel claiming tool, with one hit left. The food kit gives you a customised version of the best food in MC, Chorus Fruit; buyable/sellable by the AutoEcon plugin under the name “Nourishment”.
- AFK plugin modifications. Despite scripts not being allowed on the server, the previous script bypass to the AFK plugin has been patched, bug fixes and new perms added. Default allowable AFK time increased from 5 minutes to 6.
- ShopChest added. The previous plugin ChestShop is no longer maintained, and those with forks have no idea what they’re doing; so we will not be using their plugin. We’ve switched over to the actively maintained and supported plugin ShopChest. ChestShop will remain installed for seven days after launch so that players who have ChestShop shops will be able to convert over.
- Rankup ranks improved. Ranking up increases the amount of time you can AFK on the server without being kicked by 2 minutes each rank up. The end warp is now included in the first rank up's perks to everyone to hasn’t already purchased it. Ranking up increases the number of homes you may create by one every other rank, starting at 3. Ranking up also doubles a number of ShopChests you can create for every rank upgrade starting at 10. The last rank may create infinite shops. Feel free to submit more ideas for ranks to Justis or make a suggestion thread in the MCM server forum.
- Updated to 1.11.2, (latest version), you will need to join using the latest Minecraft version or 1.11.1 if you’d like to join. This was to allow for all of the awesome new changes that have come out, such as shulker boxes, terrain gen changes, new mobs, etc.
- World border increased! The world map is now 5k blocks wider in every direction. This will allow for the new 1.11 generation to make woodland mansions, magma blocks, and other terrain gen changes available to all players. The land is obviously a first come first serve basis.
- Pvp changes. Now enabled in all worlds; outside all claims when players have pvp enabled. By default, pvp will be disabled; but you may toggle it on by doing /pvp toggle
- Other new commands. /alerts toggle is also available for players to turn on/off notifications when your name is mentioned in chat. You may also /ignore <players> for whom you do not wish to see the chat messages of.
- Other improvements. /hat and sign coloring are now available to everyone. You will now respawn at your home. Teleport timer disabled. Spawn shop removed. Warp wall changed to contest winner wall. Claims expire after two months. Message formats tweaked. Unnecessary plugins removed.

Suggestions updated
Recently I have been clearing out all of the suggestions that have been made and accepting/denying them. Now we have an all-new system in place that makes suggestions have a 1-month window after their creation to be considered by the community before they are locked to be reviewed by myself based on community input and my own.
Bugs fixed
Recently d3l3t3d and his team of System Administrators have been hard at work fixing all of the bugs on the site since the host was transferred. Below is just a few of the many things they've fixed and optimised with the site so it is at peak performance.
- Cookies and Subdomains for www.mc-market.org now working
- Snow re-added back and optimised
- Fixed errors with logging in to the site
- GIF profile pictures are now back
- Removed random adsense ads on light-theme for premium members
- Other minor theme changes
- MC-Market.net now redirects to MC-Market.org

Staff changes
Recently MC-Market has undergone some rather drastic changes to staffing. The staff changes are as follows:
- Ivain resigned from moderator
- Justis promoted to moderator
- Teg promoted to chat moderator
- d3l3t3d promoted to System Administrator
- Doge no longer performs Scam Resolver duties

Along with these changes, we have also updated several other little things to the site, including:
- Instagram added as an account contact method
- Lyphiard's tag is now red rather than green
- @OP is now able to be used to tag the original poster of a thread
- Business accounts field on profile can now have multiple users
- Prices of advertisements and user upgrades changed from EUR to USD
- 'Accounts' section in miscellaneous marketplace renamed to 'Social Media'
- Social Media & Other section now has far more thread prefixes available
- Users can now add staff to any PM, even if they don't own it
- You are now able to search for Minecraft accounts
- There will now be stricter enforcement of shoutbox rules
- You are now able to post referral links in the Begging forum
- Amount of reputation you can give daily increased from 2 to 3
- Resource Moderators are now able to review the resources they moderate, even if they are paid.
- Scam Resolvers are now able to email inactive members to contact them
- Added facepalm smiley & Minor changes to other smilies
- Rules 3.7, 9.1, 9.3 and 9.4 tweaked to have better wording
- Rule 1.25 added
