3D model for resource pack

What is the best program to create 3D models for minecraft resource packs? I'm wanting everything to be perfect, I want the item to look good dropped on the ground, I want it to look good in hand, and I want it to look good in the UI. Anyone with a lot of experience creating these 3d models, please fill me in on the process.

Cubik is the program that all of the good people use I believe.

Oberdiah is the best person I know of for models, I'd recommend him if you need any though.

Like mick said above Cubik is a amazing program, I own it and its really easy to get used too.
