$5 When someone breaks a block that has the void directly under it, extreme lag for 4 seconds

So when I break a block or any other player breaks or places a block or when pushed by a piston my server and there is nothing under that block besides void, it causes extreme lag. How do I fix this? Thanks. I'm on 1.8 paper spigot with viaversion.

Just put blocks under all the blocks that are above void and it won't lag anymore.
