8 GB OVH VPS VS 16 GB dedicated soyoustart HELP

Hello guys, so I am currently in the middle of getting either the 8 GB OVH VPS (https://www.ovh.co.uk/vps/vps-ssd.xml) this costs just £12 a month

OR

16GB (£40 a month)

I'm not expecting a lot of players maybe 15-30, which would be the best one to choose? I'm also looking for a cost-effective one. Also, another question, in the future if I wanted to switch the host, will it be a long process?

The VPS will hold your players just fine.
The dedicated machine isn't necessary.

For 15-30 players, the 8GB VPS would be fine. (Needs to be the 8GB one, since the others only have 1v core). The dedi would be a bit overkill.

May I kindly ask what the difference is between VPS and dedicated? Is it just the fact that VPS is "Virtual" and the dedicated box is like physical, or is there different specs involved?

Also, I'm not experienced in VPS or dedicated, are they both they same thing in the way they work? or are they completely different.

They both can work the same way.


Dedicated machines are like a whole cake, and virtual machines are like a single piece of it.
There is nothing wrong with having a single piece if you don't need the whole thing.

I've used OVH VPS for awhile and I never had any issues.

(Needs to be the 8GB one, since the others only have 1v core).

Just keep in mind what Fire says, I once used a 1v core VPS to run several Minecraft servers and it was extremely laggy. You'll want the 2v cores which that 8GB plan has.

SoYouStart servers are generally lower quality or older computers from OVH. They are not worth it.

But is it worth the price point? I mean £40 is quite a lot per month. It's possible for me but would really go for the cheaper option.
