Add a %%__MC_MARKET__%% (or %%__MCMARKET__%%) placeholder that simply replaces with "true". That way, developers can easily identify if their resource was downloaded from MC-Market or another platform, allowing them to perform different operations and anti-piracy techniques based on the platform the user has downloaded from without having to compile and obfuscate their JAR twice.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

We already have several placeholders which no other platform offers.
Would it not be reasonable to simply use one of those and check if it’s been replaced with a proper value, in order to determine if it was MC-Market that processed the download?

Wouldn't you need this to be implemented into PlaceholderAPI or MVdW Placeholders?
I'm talking about MC-Market's anti-piracy placeholders which are injected into resource when they are downloaded (before runtime).

I've already thought of this option, but you never know when other platforms will suddenly add all the placeholders MC-Market currently offers and the system breaks. The best solution in my opinion is to add a placeholder that no other platform will ever have to identify if the JAR was downloaded from MCM.

Fair enough. I do think that it’s a bit clunky, but I’m not against adding it as long as this thread gets a reasonable amount of support from other resource authors. I’ve already completed optimizations to the injection software which makes the number of placeholders we check for negligible to processing time.

maybe a %%__DOWNLOAD_SOURCE__%% which can be used across sites? once it's implemented on MCM it could become standard on other sites such as spigot etc.

There seems to be enough interest in this to warrant its addition (especially because it's probably the most simple injection logic possible). It's something we'll be adding during or shortly after our migration to XF2.

I'll move this to pending, thanks for the suggestion

To provide an update on this, it's been planned a %%__MCMARKET__%% filter is definitely coming to our resource injector with the release of XF2. We'll also be adding %%__MC_MARKET__%% as an alias to do the exact same thing because I figure it's something people will mess up a lot and be confused about why it isn't working.

As soon as it's implemented I'll move this to accepted. Thanks for the great suggestion!
