Ok so, I've noticed that there are a lot of writers out there that are trying to improve their craft. As a result I've decided to work on a hub for writers to improve, peer review and to provide/receive valuable and engaging feedback, set goals and track their writing habits with valuable statistics.

What I have so far and will probably launch soon as a MVP.

I don't want to work on this for too long if there isn't much of a demand. So, please help me out? Do you care?

Some features I'm hoping would be useful are:
  • - Users can set goals such target words/no. of words/stories and target genres for which they would like to be more prolific in.
  • - These users can then make a book or export individual pieces to pdf or backup directly to google drive.
  • - If you're not feeling confident you can request an in-depth and personalized review from a critic.
  • - Or, just improve your writing statistics on the site such as no. of words written per week, no. of stories or no of likes received.
  • - Users can create collections which are used to bookmark their favourite stories which can later be accessed for inspiration.
  • - You can follow your peers.
  • - If you want you can also work on pieces together in a collaborative editor. - Create a story panel which groups follow up stories.
  • - Small challenges that could help you challenge writers block. e.g. write a small paragraph using an auto generated character/setting. - Competitions - Jobs board

Although I'm no writer, I believe this could be an amazing idea! The theme of the website already looks very creative, and a lot of additional features could be added too! Here are a few of my suggestions!

- Leaderboards (Newest, Highest Rated, and Trending | basic stuff).
- If within your/your teams abilities, an application that works with the site.
- Definitely an upload feature for Rich Text Documents, PDFs, and etc.
- Allow users to advertise their pieces, you need to cover costs somehow :p

You may also be heading in a direction that could lead to writing software being developed for people to purchase for individual use. If you collect more than basic statistics, and have clean code accomplishing that, selling that software could become very profitable.

Also consider an educational aspect. If you give teachers and educators access to part of the website where they can track their students progress, and have assignments turned in and checked, you'd be helping a lot of teachers (who will definitely appreciate it!).

reddit has multiple places for writers aswell. The writing subreddit is over 1.2m people strong

Then why has any competition been created? If you believe you can do something better than someone else, go for it. Plus there are many unfavorable sides of reddit, so I'm willing to betcha 70% of the population of that subreddit would like someplace better. This looks like an amazing idea, and writers, artists, or anyone that creates anything is always looking for help, and/or places to publish their work. If that wasn't the case, MC-Market would be a lot less populated.

In conclusion, go for it man! As long as you have the financial side covered, I see no reason you shouldn't give it a shot. Look for investors, if you can prove this could be profitable somehow, then as long as you keep that argument strong, investors will come flocking.
