Alright, let's dive into the first step of making your Minecraft server bring in some serious revenue. We all want more players, right? Here's a down-to-earth look at how you can spread the word and get more eyes on your server.

CHAPTER 1: The Power of Server Lists

You know those Minecraft Server Lists you've seen? They're not just there for decoration. These lists can be your ticket to getting noticed by a much wider audience. Below, I'll link some of the top server listing sites online - there are a bunch of them. Getting your server listed on these sites can make a big difference. It's putting your server in-front of thousands of new eyes that could be eager to play your server.

But here's the trick: make your server description absolutely shine. Spend some time crafting a description that's catchy, informative, and inviting. Think about what makes your server special – unique game modes, cool features, fun events you run, anything that sets you apart from the rest. When potential players read your description, they should be itching to join your server. Another thing with using server lists is having your visuals top tier. The number one reason people are drawn to things is because their brain gets triggered when it sees something unique, vivid, colourful. Without words, you can significantly increase your click count and build a better brand reputation for your server.

Here's a list of a few server listing sites I've found which work well:

CHAPTER 2: Partnering with Content Creators

If you've got some budget to spare, partnering with YouTubers and streamers will be a game-changer. These content creators have an established audience that trusts their recommendations. But here's the key: choose the right creators and platforms for your server's style. You're not going to choose a creator who records smp gameplay when your server gamemode is skyblock. That's just silly. Ensure you are picking creators that resonate with your server and gamemode to ensure you are maximising your campaign performance and not wasting your money.

Think about it this way: Content Creators play Minecraft and record or stream it. People love watching their videos and streams. Now, when they play on your server and share it on their channel, their fans – who might not have known about your server before – get to see it in action. This leads to insane brand awareness due to the extremely wide audience that content creators can bring to your server. Especially streamers because their audience is able to play with them in real time and will greatly enjoy the server.

Here's a few ways Content Creators can bring traffic to your server:
  1. Content Creators usually have a bunch of people who follow their channel. When they play on your server, their fans/subscribers might join in too. This is either because they like your server's features or they just want to play with their favourite YouTuber. Either or, you're getting players to your server, hence it's your job from there to keep them there.
  2. Fans trust their favourite Creators. If a creator says your server is awesome, their fans are more likely to believe it and check it out.
  3. Creators don't just play – they create entertaining videos. They'll show off the cool stuff like your best features in your server, so be sure to highlight those to them prior to them making content for your servers. It's a sneak peek for potential players.

CHAPTER 3: Exploring Short-Form Potential

Now, let's talk about TikTok, Instagram Reels, & YouTube Shorts. Short videos are all the rage, and they can work wonders for your server's exposure. Create engaging, fun, and quick videos that capture what makes your server awesome. It's a great way to attract a younger audience and get them excited about your server. Always keep it fun, engaging, and appropriate for everyone.

Short-form content is all about those quick-hit videos that grab attention. Think of them as mini trailers for your Minecraft server. These videos are like your server's highlights reel, showing off all the awesome stuff in a bite-sized package. It's your chance to show off the coolest features and here's the thing – you can get seriously creative. Use music, cool edits, and fun visuals to make your videos stand out. The goal is to instantly hook viewers and leave them wanting more (hence, why they will come and check on your server).

Ultimately, spark curiosity, express your server's personality, keep a high energy, be inclusive and most importantly, BE FUN! Don't think of it as embarrassing, the audience you are trying to achieve love all of that! Don't be shy, have high energy, be funny, make jokes, be confident!

CHAPTER 4: Hosting Events and Competitions

Alright, let's flip the script and talk about a super effective way to bring players to your Minecraft server – hosting events. Think of events like throwing a party in your virtual world. They're like beacons of fun that attract players, both new and old, to come together and have a blast. Here's the scoop on why events are your secret weapon for server growth.

What's the deal with events? Well, they offer something special that regular gameplay doesn't. Whether it's a PvP tournament, a scavenger hunt, or a creative building challenge, events add a dash of uniqueness to your server. Players get to experience something fresh and thrilling, which keeps them coming back for more. Events aren't just about having a good time – they're about building a strong community. When players come together to participate, they forge connections, make friends, and feel like they're part of something bigger. This sense of belonging is a powerful pull that keeps players invested in your server. We're going a little off topic into community engagement so I'll leave it there.

Here's a concise rundown of how to advertise your Minecraft server's event and build up the hype. Obviously depending on how large the event will be, start by dropping subtle hints and teasers (Don't tell them what it is) within the server itself, making players curious about what's coming. Create a dedicated event page on your server's website or discord community, sharing all the juicy details and reasons why it's a can't-miss event. Leverage the power of social media with captivating posts and visuals that tease the event's highlights. Use those content creators like we were talking about above to spread the word even more! Build anticipation with a countdown, posting regular updates on various platforms. Engage your community by sparking discussions and speculations about the event. Craft a short event trailer video that showcases the event's essence and share it across platforms. Interact with players' questions and comments to keep the buzz alive. This is where TikTok also comes into play. During your event, I'd recommend hiring a content creator to make you video to post on your own server's socials. Through that video, you can highlight all the fun your players are having on your server, enticing even more players to come along and have a look at it.

Conclusion:

And there you have it, a modern guide through the tactics to take your Minecraft server to the next level. Starting with the power of server lists, move to YouTube to Twitch, delve into TikTok, and most importantly, just remember to keep it fun and age-appropriate.
