Warning: My PC is broken, and I am writing this on a school iPad so my grammar may and/or may not be really bad during this.
Hello all!
Recently, I have seen a rise in the number of threads and shops offering writing services. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing, as it helps a lot depending on what you need written. However, there's just some stuff that I want to address when it comes to that.
Staff applications
Staff applications should be written yourself, to show your skills, how dedicated you are and overall how much you care about being a staff member, support agent or for whatever you are applying for. There's really only one exception to this rule, non-English speaking people. This would be for the English sever, where they could be used as an other-language staff member to assist people around the world, not just Americans and people who speak English. However, this would only be to say that a verbal interview or another form of application with someone else to talk in that language should be arranged.
But really though, in my opinion at least, people should stop typing applications for people. In my own experience by staffing as a manager, owner or admin even, I have seen people have their friends type an application for them. It makes the information a bit iffy, as it's not the person directly writing it so it is not always up-to-date an accurate. Regardless, it's not right. An application should be made to show your own skills and to show how good you will be when being a staff member. I've seen countless times people either being too lazy or just not good enough to write a good staff application, meaning that getting one written for them is basically low-key lying that you are good enough to be a staff member.
Just so no one gets made, writing threads a great, they just shouldn't be used in this exact way.
Just, all I have to say, is that if you have enough effort to tell the person writing the application, just fucking write is yourself. Don't be lazy. Period.
Stop low-key lying.
G'day,
~ Dawn
