Hey, im in a predicament with what hosting plans to look at.

Im currently looking to host a Pixelmon server that also includes plugins, and hope to have between 40-60 users on it during peak times.

My question here, is if we meet the above criteria, what kind of server should we look at? Most recommendations i've seen are simply "16gb ram+" but I know that some hosts CPUs are the issue and they simply say "oh well modded servers take too much" and we're out of luck.

What hosts have dedicated servers that are strong enough to run this without charging 70+ a month?

Thanks ahead of time

Hello,

We're currently running a 30% off recurring sale on our hybrid dedicated servers: https://clovux.net/dedicated
I would recommend our HYBRID-16G-3 server (i7-6700K CPU, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 120GB SSD). The i7-6700K is ideal for modpacks due to its high single-thread benchmark.

Our dedicated servers are semi-managed, which means we can install a Minecraft panel for you (such as Pterodactyl) at no extra cost.

If you have any questions just let us know. You can also add us on Discord: Clovux#1980

iExodus, we invite you to check out Oddblox Hosting

Oddblox are laser-focused on offering just Minecraft services.

For what you request, Our US location uses AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, UK is AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
These are top of the line CPUs, that should meet your requirements. Our nodes are not crowded. Do note that, in case our service does not work for you, we'll refund you immediately if you request a refund within 14 days of payment.

You can request a trial server with no payment obligated. Start an account at this link, and then contact support, be sure to mention this post and I'll get back to you.

As we're confident in our machines, do note that 60 players can be a lot of work for a modded server, you might consider splitting it up into a network.

Anyway, here are some of our features:
  • Multicraft Panel. You can switch to Pterodactyl Panel if you request.
  • Free cPanel hosting included with plans.
  • Real DDoS protection, 99.97% Uptime Guaranteed.
  • Based in USA.
  • PayPal, Stripe, and Bitcoin (no 3rd party processor for Bitcoin).

For more info and discount, check our thread here.

Thanks

How many plugins, and what version? Those are going to contribute to how much you need, but I would think the 16 gigabyte mark would be about right. But as far as your modded concern, have you considered looking at a vps? Its going to be cheaper than a dedi and that will allow you to get a better cpu. Personally could offer you a deal with a ryzen 3900x for a pretty good deal for 16 gigs. But if you truly do think you need to go the dedicated server route, only hetzner for the eu and soyoustart for North America would be able to fit within your parameters (with some drawbacks like set up fees and such). If your open to going the vps route add me on discord: Scroll32#8539. But regardless, I hope you find a solution that works for you.
