Hi all,

I'm requesting a rule that should be set in stone. That users should not be allowed to post reputation on someone that you have not deals with. Apparently since the rule is not set in stone it does not apply. Currently when posting reputation you must fill in the fields saying you have had some form of deal with the user. So make this into a gosh darn rule so people cannot abuse the rating system.

Thanks James.

Let's not bash on my post okay.

Good idea!
They should add a section for other subjects, like disrespect outside of a deal instead.

I feel that being able to give someone a negative reputation because they was an idiot is a good idea as well.

But I also believe if they did the wrong category the reputation is considered Null.
That would violate rule 9.1, and I don't think Mc-Market wants to support bullying.

I mean, people can be toxic idiots and still be able to carry out a deal fairly well.
This is just my personal opinion, but I feel that the reputation system should be used to determine a users integrity and ability when caring out a transaction, rather than to determine whether they are a good person or not.

For that you could always just go on their wall and voice your complaints, or something of the like.

Go to their wall and voice your complaints and the user deletes your comment, that doesn't help anything.

A Reputation they can't remove.
You can't harass and trash threads because a user is a plonker, so you should be able to voice your option somewhere where it can not be deleted, but is moderated.
I thought of that shortly after I said it. If you feel strongly about it then you could always just pm those you associate with about it and prevent them from dealing with the user, but other than that why would you need more? If the user is capable of carrying out a successful transaction, why does their personality matter? Just leave them be or use the ignore feature if absolutely necessary.

Besides, if anything like that interfered with the deal then that's where the reputation system comes in.
Sorry for using you as an example, just trying to make a point.

yep, i know a few toxic people who're business-minded, it just depends on the scenario. honestly i'm scared of giving -rep to people as I'm sure they'd do the same to me with no valid reason

Anyway another thing is that if this rule is enforced, you can never tell how good a person's general attitude is. all their devouches on their profile would just be deleted, and their rep would be fine. So in a way it's removing insight from others on that person, which isn't good.

if I had to choose between running it the same way now than enforcing the rules, i would probably have to agree with this suggestion. After all, this is a market before a lounge for people to hang out and chat...

I'm not talking about removing insight I mean adding a rule so people can't abuse a system that's supposed to be based around transactions.
