Aight. So... this isn't a hugely thought out suggestion, but rather a general idea trying to get a discussion going here.

Over the years of my presence here on this platform, I can't help but get mildly irritated at seeing thread titles that go along the lines of

"#1 Rated _insert generic service name here_ on MCM!"

Now I don't know if this bothers you, but it bothers me. I get that its a strategy that many services title their posts on "listing platforms" for SEO purposes or eye catching hopes of getting a click/visit to their page, but with the amount of rampant scamming and convoluted trash talking of certain services, people who run said services, and more I feel like there needs to be a system of sorts.

A system that should rank service threads on some compilation of traits to take into account. For example AND JUST AN EXAMPLE I see the list as:
- Number of (Pos & Neg) Reputations of the business account or mcm account of said thread.
- Number of generally positive "vouch" posts on said thread
- Number of visits of the thread in the past 12 hours
- Number of generally negative "trash talk" posts on said thread

The list can go on and on.

AGAIN this is just a general idea/inkling that comes from me saying to myself "These #1 threads otta be held accountable in some objective standard, so we can stop seeing them pop up everywhere and possibly lead to convoluted scam, trashtalk, harassment posts.

Encourages farming of such content when the quantity of reputation and vouches does not reflect the quality behind it. Can be easily manipulated.

- Number of generally negative "trash talk" posts on said thread
Immeasurable in an automatic manner.

- Number of visits of the thread in the past 12 hours
I suppose that can be treated as a 'hot' post (similar to Reddit) and can somewhat be ranked, except adding filters to show thread lists like this adds complexity to the site. You'd be redesigning how forums are being viewed in a large way implementing this feature.

It might be something cool to add to a huge 'revamp' of MCM, but not as a casual update imo. My thoughts are eh, it's cool but a lot of work for a small QOL suggestion.

This would simply become a popularity contest fueled by reaction/reputation/post farming and it would cause a lot of problems in the long run.

This bothered me a lot when I first joined the platform and I learned if you can't beat them, then join them. People make all sorts of claims and do select actions to reach their goals. I mean, look at Reddit. It's filled with people reporting gifs and images for internet points, sometimes when the original post hasn't even been out for a day. Setting an actual scale or standard for mc-market probably would cause more problems than it resolves. Not only does someone have to make up new categories of '#1' like for plugin, resource, map, account seller, and whatever other nonsense comes to mind, but it also need to be maintained - by which I mean automated. At this point, to save myself from ranting forther, we don't have a way of accuratly tracking transactions for every medium. Not everyone has an mc-market account that meets rep requirements, or leaves a winner rating, or even replies to a thread with vouch after a successful transaction.

While, as a fairly logic-driven person, I like the idea of quantifying quality -- ie with "Most Ratings" or "Most Vouches" -- I don't think it's feasible on a site like MCMarket. It'd be overly easy to boost your own quantitative data, and the staff team already seem to have a lot on their plate without having to moderate that stuff too.

Plus, "the best resource" could be highly objective on this site, and rankings based on number of customers or ratings could very well alienate newcomers to the site who might have good stuff to offer but get drowned out by old users. I think that some sort of community-picked "Featured Sellers" section could be the best form of compromise, but even then it's a lot extra work for the staff team that I'm not sure they're able to take on right now.

At any rate, it might be a little more work searching through the number of merchants for the perfect seller, but you could think of the wide freedom of choice is kind of a liberty that other service-marketing sites don't offer. ;p

As others have said, while this might be a cool thing in reality people saying that they're #1 is always just marketing talk trying to sound impressive. In most cases since it is so overused you should really take the buzz words like that with a grain of salt and focus on everything else that's being stated on the thread.

The custom development that'd go into something like this is simply infeasible to do given our current development backlog.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion
