Hey!, I was scrolling thru the forums and I've seen a lot of people offering lessons / classes to people, such as Ammar T with his programming lessons and many others, I thought it would be a good idea to have a lessons section where people can make shops or request lessons from people who are experienced in the field they are looking for. Please click the Agree rating if you think this is a good idea :)

Seems like a decent idea, a "Tutorials" section would encapsulate more though.

Not many people provide lessons, you are only giving one example of someone who does.

I think if there was a place for it, you would be surprised by how many people would offer it ;)

Paying for knowledge has always been a bit sketchy.
The problem with selling tutorials is similar to the problems that arose with selling methods/ebooks, etc.
You have no idea what knowledge you're buying until after you've bought it.
This leads to gray area purchases and scam reports.

Ammar T is good at what he does and for the most part, people seem happy with the time they've bought from him.
He's a great guy though, and highly experienced.
We can't rely on everyone who wants to sell lessons having those qualities, which is why I've been considering possibly banning the sale of intellectual property/services altogether. It's only a matter of time before these potential problems show themselves, as they have with methods and ebooks; and adding a section for it will only speed up the process.

If we do end up adding this, I hope we will have figured out a way to remove the problems that currently come with selling intellectual stuff, as I mentioned in the first paragraph. And if that's the case, I hope we will consider re-introducing methods/ebooks which are simply a different shape of the same piece of cake.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else thinks.

Your term "paying for knowledge has always been a bit sketchy" is COMPLETELY wrong. We pay for knowledge all the time. School, university, visiting museums, lessons, books, movies, I can think of a lot. So don't act like paying for knowledge is something new to you, because I doubt it is. If people are good teachers, I don't see the issue if they teach you, just like the lessons in school.
Pal, put your salt in the freezer would you. It needs to chill.
Forgive me for thinking it was obvious that I was referring to the sale of knowledge on MCM. Which you cannot argue is a problem.
In real life, teachers have government granted certifications to teach.
Schools and universities, same thing, government certified/accredited.
In order to be a museum you need to have state certification among other legal things to ensure you're the real deal..
Books, you can physically hold and even take a look at the content; if you're buying online, you've probably either already decided to buy it, or it's popular enough with the world to where you know what to expect already, bypassing the problems I described.

Things are different in real life. We have a system for verifying what institutions/services/people/items are legit, and what aren't.
We have no such thing here on MCM. We hardly even have a reputation system for our members.
MCM is not a country, and our staff is not a government. We are something different entirely, and we need to be treated as such.
If you have a suggestion for how we can support the sale of intellectual 'stuff' on MCM in the same reasonably-safe manner as in real life, I'm all for hearing it. As I'm sure are the rest of the community and staff here, because so far we've got nothing worth implementing. Which is why methods/ebooks have been banned; and why I would not be surprised if tutorials ended up going down the same path, should enough people take to it.

Thanks for the kind words Justis :), there are a couple of other examples I can come up with of people who teach such as Seb1 with building lessons and Circels with his CS:GO lessons but you're right in the whole that it is a gray zone and may lead to potential scams over time. I think a review system may be a good idea but in hindsight it may take up too many human resources. Resources that MC-Market just doesn't have.

This would be good, but at the same time could cause issues. Also not sure how many people here would be willing to actively teach people a programming language or other things on the daily, most likely for low prices too.

If people need help with java or whatever they can just ask for it in the development section.

Maybe just add a prefix in the development section?

or an overall prefix? it's not just in the dev section you might want this.
Still, justis' point remains valid
What else could you want lessons in? Maybe graphics or system administration but I see no need for lessons on building etc.

well, there's plenty of people that are interested. I've had several people ask for terraforming lessons, and I still see plenty requesting for building.
Makes sense, I guess. People that either want to start up as builders/terraformers or want to be server owners and think to save a bit by learning a few skills themselves.

But there is no "real way" to build...

that's part of the problem. Still, you can teach them some techniques, some processes, and set them on the path towards developing their own skill.
Just like there's no fixed way to write fiction, no fixed way to draw or paint. but people still give lessons.
