Add a server owner verification website.

Hello!

We should add a server owner verification system, that proves you are the owner of the server your selling.

It could work like how the PlanetMinecraft.com one works, where you update your MOTD temporarily, with a long string of numbers, letters and capitals. You could possibly use the MClaim.net domain for this.

I hope this suggestion gets a lot of support.

Not at all needed imo, you can just ask them to go on the server and show the prefix.

Accounts can be faked with cracked clients, changing the server MOTD is the same as checking if they're owner on the server.

However, this would be useful for everyone, not just people that enquire specifically about a server.

Why de fudge would I change the MOTD for a 500 player server just to prove I'm the owner? Isnt my name/rating enough?

Its a way of verification.

It really isn't that hard to make. But I think it's not worth doing it because there won't be much traffic(=No money trough advertising). But it's a good idea if it would be running just like mclaim as part of mcm.

An issue with this entire concept: What if someone is selling a server which is no-longer available online? How would they verify a server which doesn't exist on the internet?

Nice idea, although this would cost a lot of money to get made. I think Jack could do it though.

Could be done with a simple plugin and external script.

I can go ahead and say the same thing about accounts. Link me one account scam because someone did not verify ownership.
