So earlier today when Clearout asks a question about warning points. I said that warning points last forever while M6 says temporary for a year or so. BeBosny came into shoutbox saying that the warning points are permanent now; however, in December, the warning points wasn't permanent. Maybe add an expiring date to certain warning points for this amount of time period or so. Of course, there will be some warning points that will be permanent; however, some of the warning points be temporary for a period of time. So what you guys think about it?

I would agree with this, but I don't because you need SO MANY warning points before you get permanently banned that there's really no reason for it. The whole idea of the warning system is that you accumulate points. If you break the rules enough times, you get banned and that's that. Letting warning points expire is basically a way of "forgiving" you for breaking the rules and allows you to do it over again later.

If you don't break the rules again for a whole year is it not fair to forgive??

You are forgiven as they are warning points, focus on warning. They are meant to tell you that you have broken a rule they are not pinned to you like a stamp of your forehead.

They kinda are though. If I get a warning in 2015 for one thing. For say 5 points. Even if I break zero rules for over a year. Then get a 5 point warning for an unrelated issue should I really be temp banned for a first infraction within a year??

If you get a warning and don't break the rules for over a year, then you never have to worry about it.

You do. If I get a 5 point warning like I did. Even if I never break a rule I know that a single 5 point warning could get me a suspension. I mean if it's the first infraction in over a year should you really be banned.

You should never get infraction points. That's the lesson here.

My account was hacked. I proved that. I got told it was still my fault.... so if in a year i finally get a reasonable 5 point warning I'll get a suspension... to me that seems extremely stupid.
So i dont see why 1 year on from me being hacked if I still haven't been issued a warning why it can't expire. I never broke a rule but still got the warning points...

The warning I got for "low quality posting" is pretty funny. That should expire within a month, I've had that since December and have learnt my lesson. Makes my profile look shittier than it already does.

Yeah it's sorta silly that we have to keep warning points that were minor. Especially when you're not prone to getting warnings.

Yeah but what if you don't really break any rules and some abusive staff member (Gruss) gives you points anyways?
I don't feel staff members are abusive. If you stay way the hell away from breaking any rules, you'll be fine. If you decide you want to test the limits, that's on you.

I really don't understand why these things come up. I'm with rocket on everything said thus far. If you're concerned about getting suspended for something, then just... Don't break the rules? Like in any of these scenarios, I don't get why it's such a big deal.

>> But points stack up!
Yes that literally is the entire point of the system.

>>What if I had 5 points from a year ago and just got another 5 points today resulting in a suspension!
Then maybe you shouldn't have done what you just did and should've learned your lesson a year ago.

>> But it was just a small infraction!
Then it was a small infraction. Yippty skippty fricken doo-dah. No one can see it besides you anyway, with the exception of staff. If you're concerned with the fact that YOU can see it, I appreciate your dedication to your aesthetic. If one point isn't fitting that aesthetic, try gaining multiple points to create a nice pattern.

tl;dr Learn from your mistakes, accept that if you fuck up on a couple of small things it won't be the end of you, think before you speak, and don't push at the rules.
