It's honestly people's fault to mix it with "Rep" because they should know it isn't. I lost 1k ratings, but not because I think I have less "Rep" now but because I liked having 5k ratings, it was like an accomplishment to me, now Mick removed them without even asking which was not fair, + if you're going to do such thing because of the "Rep" confussion then get a reputation system instead of simply removing funny ratings and fucking half of the community. People use the funny rating to piss other people off. They can and will still do that. The only difference is now the victim won't gain anything positive from the situation. This is just a lazy attempt at fixing the reputation system, and it helps no one.

Alright, +1 rep for you buddy. Reason: I like you.

That'd be an amazing system. The only sites I know utilising such a system have no credibility whatsoever, and also are filled with reputation abuse to the extent that they can't remove the system because of reliance on it, and it definitely can't be fixed. It's too time consuming and unless staff have nothing else to do, it would be a very poor decision to implement. Controlling it would just be a huge waste of time, and there are bigger problems around here.
We all actually want such reputation system, something that actually works and defines what's "rep" and what's not, staff basically ignore us though.

Of course they do, I just mentioned why. You'd be increasing stress on them significantly, the implementation of it would be disgusting and be a huge factor in making this into a general discussion forum. It's getting further and further away from a Minecraft trades and sales community.

How do you propose to clearly manage the system, prevent abuse without taking up tons of staff time and needing to add more? Give me one practical solution and make me look like an idiot :) - it's almost impossible.

I can give you a bunch of practical solutions, in fact. All of them would require a new system for MCM.

Instead of using forums, use a dedicated marketplace. Only allow "reputation ratings" for customers that buy a product through the system.

Example of such systems:

Easy system to control, for any site. Even a community such as this one. I actually coded such a system for scratch, not for XenForo sadly. It was made for a customer of mine. Works fantastically.

Regardless, a good reputation system doesn't exist for XenForo. It'd need to be made, costing money, of course. What you're proposing I believe is a system identical to the one that hack forums has, knowing the community, that'd be my guess as to what you're looking for. That is disastrous. The system is abused so much you'd need to call out the FBI rape team along with 11 years of warfare to get it fixed.

The only way to make it work is to make it strictly marketplace interaction and after purchase, and put a timer of, I dunno, 2 days after purchasing to when you can leave reputation.

Even then, it'd be seller reputation. It'd be better to post 'reviews' on the product after purchase, instead of providing reputation to the seller. This would be like eBay, in fact. Each review would add to their positive/neutral/negative count. 2-3 days limit to make sure they've thoroughly checked the product. Product reputation is good because it encourages sellers to do their research, before looking at a reputation number and assuming trust.

Mick

Actually, I brainstormed this on the spot, but if you really wanted a reputation system that's the concept I recommend. It's actually possible for about $150 and clean integration of existing XenForo add-ons. If you ever seriously wanted to add one, that'd be the only way I'd recommend adding one. Any other way and you're inviting trouble.

Well no need to be rude. Are you this aggressive to everyone? Obviously the reason is not good enough. I meant when someone does a job. For example if someone paid for graphics from me. They could +rep me. With evidence of the work. Read and understand my post before jumping at me okay?

Can't tell if that was an insult or a compliment.
I can't tell if sarcastic or not, it's a bit hard to understand online posting sometimes. If not, then yeah, I couldn't tell if it was an insult or a compliment, either, with the use of the 'funny' rating here. Not sure if he means literally funny, or sarcastically funny by "funny rating".

It wasn't sarcastic or rude, I was serious about the +1 rep part. The amazing system part was sarcastic, however. My opinion on you is irrelevant, I'd rep you based on that, yes? So I literally meant, if I give you a +1 rep because I like you, which most people will, the system is highly abused. I can understand if internet posting is hard to understand.

I mean, I don't know which part of this is rocket science. A system like this will be abused. Everything in the world is abused.

Community like this + HF's reputation system = HF's reputation system troubles applied here

I'd understand if we were simply speculating, but this has happened before and there are live examples of the mess it is. It's like seeing 10 whales drown in an experiment and throwing another 10 whales into the pond to see if doing the experiment 1 hour later changes anything - it doesn't. Basic mathematics, really.

I think it's funny that you of all people talk about abusing the rate system like that (not that he can see this)
Spambots abuse the system all the time. Post ratings is a GREAT way to comment on posts without commenting them.

I have ran, worked in, with and been on LOTS of communities with post ratings. I can say that MC-Market is the ONLY one out of all of them where people abuse that system. Every other one is to use a rating to rate a post instead of giving a reply or showing appreciation or a quick display of opinion.

Normally, I'd say it's a good thing to be unique, you should be proud of it. I can't say that's a good unique factor, unfortunately.

It's quite sad some people here find amusement in this and find it worth their time. I find it pathetic, especially on a marketplace forum. I'd expect this to have the highest levels of professionalism from businessmen, and most can't even understand my heavily toned down vocabulary use. Even for a Minecraft forum, I expect some level of "we are businessmen, we come on, we serve our customers and give them the finest customer satisfaction in the industry, we take their money, we go home, we enjoy and bring it back again tomorrow". Here it's more like "we are trolls, we come on, we make fake accounts and spam post ratings, we do whatever we can to get complaints, we try and replicate a forum filled with pre-pubescents as much as possible, we make sure customers experience the lowest levels of satisfaction impossible, we already are home and we troll some more and come back the next morning to spend another day trolling".

I mean... don't you have studying to do? o_O
