So, I'm constantly saying things over and over again, such as "This Costs 15$", or I need to end a sentence with "Best Regards, Chump". Is it possible to add macros as a premium perk so you can just type in like "\1" for Macro 1, and have a list of macros in settings?

I'm just giving my point of view with a question asking for opinions from regular members.

I personally don't see how repetative replies could contribute any good.
The business accounts usually have a signature at the end.

"Best regards LelHost,
Contact: [email protected]"

So instead of them having to find that piece of text to copy and paste every time, they can alternatively take advantage of a macro system.

That's just one example of how it could be of use.

you might have misread something in the other posts, that's why repetitive* posts contribute.
Please elaborate.[DOUBLEPOST=1461451058,1461451021][/DOUBLEPOST]

And why is that useful? It looks more like spam.

This is a forum, not gmail.

They're doing it now, and they will continue to do for as long as there is no rule set against it.

Just because they are doing it, doesn't mean we should encourage it.

It's really just a tool for users who want to put:

"Best Regards, Example Douchenozzle"

On each of their messages.

I use it all the time. 25 people agree with me. I say, "This Plugin costs 15$", or "This build is non-exclusive" all the time. Instead of typing it, I'd like to have a way to automatically say that.

Link me to those posts please.

If they are made in your own thread, you can add it to the original post.

I believe it's called "professionalism", whenever I am speaking in a buisness manner I write my greetings and endings to look more professional, yes I don't do it all the time, only when it's for a buisness purpose.

I for one would like this as it would make things easier, and for advertising as well. However spam is an issue but I could still see it quite useful.

On my business account, all of our posts are followed by "Best Regards, Chump | CEO of Duotopia" this could be used as a macro.
I ask for Vouch Copies a lot, that could be used as a macro.

I'm not going to go rooting through 1k and some messages just because you need to know the community wants this implemented. This suggestion has 26 agree ratings, one of the highest rated suggestions at this time. The community wants this, and I don't see any reason other than spam that this couldnt be used for. And frankly, taking care of spam is quite easy. If a user is using the macro service for spam, just remove his right to the macros.

Use AutoHotKey and just have a script that rebinds Shift+F1 to "whatever macro text you want", Shift+F2... et cetera.

I'm sure people know how to implement macros within their own computers. Half of these people have razer synapse. But it's the luxury of having it scrictly for this website.

Also please open back up ip.uxs.us / ip.jack.wtf :/

That's exactly what a signature should be used for...?

That is a really really good point,
But
1. Some people (me) have them off.
2. There is a seperation between them, and it just seems more professional if people see that its in your message.

The big question is, what could this be useful for?

I don't think I remember I've ever wrote the same reply several times.
Only in suggestions saying "Thread Archived" but I honestly don't see a good use of this for a regular member.
Even the "Thread Archived" isn't really needed.

Honestly, I don't like this idea. I don't want someone posting some canned response onto my thread or sending me a reply to a message with some canned response. If you can't be bothered to take the time to write up a unique response for me, then you don't need to post or reply, in my eyes.

I'm officially done arguing with the staff members. 28 people want this implemented, so it's not going to be implemented. That's how it usually works. If the staff would just take a minute to read through ALL of our reasoning, 2 pages of it, I'm sure you can figure out at least 1 reason to have this.

Just because a majority of people would prefer to have no taxes doesn't mean the government is going to remove taxes.

As a web developer, what has been suggested would be very difficult to implement. A lot of people don't take this into account when they make suggestions, but that's understandable because they aren't developers.
The easiest thing which was suggested would be to implement a simple "replace" on every message. However, querying every single word on every single message on the site would be a very intensive process and the site load time would be minutes per page.
Can you find any recently updated XenForo addons that do what you suggested?

Even if I'm not a web developer, I can still do this. Here's a tutorial.

1) Click this link: Post Macros

2) Use some of the money that I paid MCM to buy a few people premium and me supreme to buy the addon.

3) Install addon.

4) 29 users or so are really happy.

I saw that. I saw the latest review as 2013 but didn't see the latest update at December 2015.
I suppose it could work. 29 users is only 0.1% of the entire user base.
As it's been mentioned, it will be used to promote laziness and probably be abused.
