Add medals awarded by the staff.

Hi.

Is was thinking we have certain medals to award users for carrying out day-to-day activities, and these medals would be awarded by the staff team.

These medals could include:
- A medal for welcoming people actively (if a staff member sees someone is actively welcoming people in the Introduction section)

- A medal for being active in the shoutbox (if a staff member sees someone is extremely active in the shoutbox)

- And more. We'd obviously need more input from the community, and they'd decide which medals they'd want to be added.

These medals should be used sparingly, and would push people to become more active on MC-Market. If people are more active, we'll have an even better community.

This defeats the object. These medals should be shown were the donation medals are.

I have to disagree with this suggestion, for the following reason:

This is a forum, not a minecraft server. I believe that people need to stop trying to make a forum have a ton of cosmetics...

This is a forum, I know. But these medals relate to the forum. Getting a medal by actively welcoming people, and making them feel welcome is good. The larger, stronger and nicer to new members the forum is, the better.

They are pretty much cosmetics.
Recently, people have been suggesting some of the stupidest stuff.. such as clans.

Before you know it, people are going to be paying for particle effects in shout box...

Clans are completely useless, in my opinion.
Particle Effects would be pretty useless, if implemented. (I realise your joking)
However, these medals encourage users to greet members, and generally be better around and about in the community.

I just don't see why you wouldn't want to be awarded for the stuff you do regularly. ex: Being active in the shoutbox.

Post/rating farming in the introductions section AND getting a medal for it!?
Holy shet, if I were more lowly, I'd spend all day in there.

As for shoutbox... I could, what? Spend a good week doing nothing but shoutbox activities, or until I get noticed, and get the medal, then stop.
I would never have to go into shoutbox again, and yet I'd have a medal that said I was "Very active" (at one point), good for me.

I don't like the activity medals idea. They'll eventually be false, misleading, and it's best just to avoid them, in my opinion.

Seriously though. Medals are a pretty significant.
Basically everyone's got the generous medal, maybe a donation badge but that's about it.
Coming across someone with medals you can't just purchase is rare, and when you do, it's special.

I'd rather not degrade their value by making it opinion based.
Putting it up to whether one staff member thinks a member is worthy of it or not.
Of course, all staff members are going to have conflicting opinions. There will be disagreements, arguments, and possibly an overflood of people getting the same stupid medal... We have better things to communicate to each other, other than who we think deserves to be crowned most awesome in a particular whatever on the forum.

Medals given should be deserved without a doubt.
It should not be possible for it to be given out of favorable bias.
It should not be based off of any one staff member's opinion.
It should be a fact. "This" person achieved <whatever> and they get a medal for it.
I love seeing medal ideas, but for now, this one is a no from me.

A few more points to give out:

• It would be extremely hard to keep track of people being welcoming.
• It is someone more for staff to do, I am assuming they are busy enough.

Staff, especially Chat Mods are prone to welcoming people. If they notice someone who's constantly welcoming people when they are, they give them a medal. Easy enough.
