Hi everyone, Happy Halloween!

Our creators' most anticipated update of the year is here: the payments update!

Addons overhaul

The following improvements have been made to all addon types:
  • Addons can now be deactivated and deleted. You can also grant/revoke addons for buyers and use our new API endpoints to check if a buyer has purchased addons
  • Coupons and sale events now work with addons
  • Split payments can now be set for each addon and collaborators can now create and edit addons
When we introduced addons we knew that creators would find them useful, but didn’t know exactly what use cases would emerge. We now have a much better idea of how addons are used, and looking through the existing uses for addons we found that addons are primarily used to offer an extended license duration, amended EULA conditions, enhanced support, or extra files that complement the parent resource. We’ve created several new types of addons with these usage cases in mind.

License duration
You can now enable up to 3 license durations for each resource. This way you can leave it up to buyers to decide whether they want to pay a little more for longer access to continue downloading updates. For example you might want to offer a 1 month, 1 year, and Lifetime license as options for buyers to purchase.

EULA
Along with our Standard EULA that you’re already familiar with, we’ve added two new EULAs:
  • Single Project EULA - Same as Standard, except buyers can only use your resource on a single product
  • Attribution Free EULA - Same as Standard, except buyers are allowed to remove your watermark/credit
We’ve removed the ability to set custom EULA conditions to provide a more consistent and intuitive experience for buyers across the site. You cannot enforce any terms on buyers outside of these one of the three EULAs we provide for sales that occur on BuiltByBit.

You can now enable up to 2 EULAs for each resource. So if buyers want to pay more to purchase your resource with less restrictive terms you can give them that option.

Support
As you know all resources sold on BuiltByBit must provide a working copy of the product and basic support. But we’ve seen an increasing number of creators using addons to charge an additional fee in return for extra services, such as installation, customisation, or priority support. Our new Enhanced Support option allows you to offer these sorts of services in a way that’s compliant with our rules. With Enhanced Support you can automate Discord roles, and an onsite conversation will be started between you and the buyer to facilitate the discussion.

Extras
We’ve renamed file addons to Extras and added a rich text editor so that you can write a full description for each, which will show up as a pop-up that buyers can click to learn more. Our placeholder injector now works, and extras will now undergo manual approval each time they’re published, just like resources.

Minimum resource price update

We have adjusted the minimum prices across the site and they now range from $1.99 to $9.99 depending on the category. This change is designed to foster fair competition by ensuring that creators can cover their costs and continue offering high-quality resources. Our aim is to promote a healthy market dynamic that benefits both creators and buyers, by discouraging unsustainably low pricing practices. Previously, when products were priced at $0.99, creators received less than half of that amount after fees, which was not viable in the long term. You can view the new price minimums for each category here. We’ve also removed the pay-what-you-want option because we found that it lead to lots of confusion from potential buyers and didn’t meaningfully impact creator earnings.

Creators have already earned over $150,000 from addon sales, so if you've never used addons before then now is a great time to start. Looking forward to seeing how everyone uses them!
