Hey!

have the admins and owners of MCM ever thought about promoting MCM more? %90 of the people I talk to in the MC community that I don’t meet on MCM say they have never heard of it. When I introduce it to them, they say “wow this is great!” Why not bring in who knows how many more users (and revenue) from google ads and YouTube promotion? It would be good for both the owner of MCM, the staff of MCM, and the users of MCM.

It'd be quite hard to advertise forum sites. Also, people find forum sites, not the other way around.

But who said? The first time for everything. How many people called the Wright brothers morons when they said they gonna fly? This is the most popular forum for the most popular game in HISTORY. Use that to your advantage. Imagen the revenue MCM would make and the freelancers of MCM.

Mick at least used to run some adwords campaigns, and rented an ad spot on a site of mine for some time, so he's definitely marketing it. I reckon it's just quite hard to find the right niche that's into minecraft stuff, but not here already
Youtubers. Done and done.

Bahahhahahahhahahahahahhahahahah. No. The videos that already exist are beyond cringy and there is no video people would watch that doesn't embarass either the site itself or the people on the site.
If you mean sponsorships, what could YouTubers possibly entice people with on Minecraft videos (ignoring the fact the fanbases of say, pvp youtubers, are often immature and obnoxious) to join MCM?

Most people back in the day found the site through word of mouth. There was a group from a server (PrimeMC) that found their way over to MCM when a bit of drama occurred and the manager was fired by Software, for example. Obviously that probably won't work to the extent it did, but ruling it out as a possibility isn't really a good idea.

ah well, I'd say mc-market needs more advertising. I registered here at 2020 december and had not used mc-market untill September when I bought a resource. I thought mc-market was just a place to sell more like a business area and I had no idea about being able to upload/download free resources or using forums. Even now as a seller when I tell people to start uploading free resources to not waste their skills on failed minecraft servers, the first thing they tell me is "I don't know mc-market" and if it was a teenager they say "I do not have paypal" or "I don't have a bank account" (<- idk why people say that) or "I don't want to do anything with money until I'm 18". The fact that people think of mc-market in that way makes me think mc-market needs more advertising.

Exactly zArrowTan , and the power of Youtubers is incredible. The right Youtubers of course. I think that's where Ally is getting mixed up. All Youtubers don't have to review the entire website. For example, SMP Youtubers can review the fact that MCM has free resources and a server showcase section and in their ad say "Hey, If you have started an SMP just like me then check out MCM because...". Or in builders timelapse Youtubers videos, "Do you build yourself? Did you know you can sell your builds on MCM and while building a reputation with a community of 100,000+ people." The possibilities are endless if you take the time to sit down and plan it out. Using Youtube alone you can reach millions with the right budget. That's not to mention starting a TikTok or Instagram.

The internet is so "developed" nowadays that there's no excuse for "There's no niche like this anywhere else for us to advertise in". 4.5 BILLION people have access to the internet in the world with 126 MILLION having Minecraft. Minecraft just hit 1 TRILLION views on Youtube. So I'm sorry but there's a lot someone can do to entice that many people.

(Yes I know, the 1 trillion are not unique views. I'm not that stupid)

Also, just like a lot have of us have, I've done the math. Mc-Market has the revenue to advertise. Now if this is Mick's only source of income then I can see him having a lot to use for marketing, but even then, marketing is an investment. Loose some money now to make more later.

Please see the following reply from Justis.

Going back to what arrow said on how users less than 18 cant have Paypal, cant accept payments, or don't want to deal with money. An option could be to sell your resources for credits. So instead of getting $10, I would get however many credits that could buy someone. So if I'm a talented 15-year-old builder, I can sell my builds here on MCM, get credits, and purchase other resources using those credits all while never making a dime.

This has been discussed within MC-Market’s management team at length and our current standing is that we want to avoid, at all costs, allowing our users to transact our on-site credit between each other.

The moment we do so, we open ourselves up to having our credits being used in scams. If one of our users is scammed using our credits, do we refund the credits? Doing so would mean MC-Market takes the loss for deals we had no say in or control over, which is doubly impactful if those credits were already spent, especially in other revenue generating areas of the site like ad positions.

While we may be able to mitigate our financial risks by taking a transaction fee, doing so would kill much of the reason that anyone would have for using that feature legitimately.

Moreover, if we were to ever allow credit to be transacted, we would definitely be unable to allow them to be withdrawn for cash. Only further killing any reason someone would have for accepting them as payment. Doing so would immediately move us from the "credit" category and into the "currency" category, which puts us into a whole new realm of legal regulations which vary drastically from country to country and state to state. The financial burden of just obtaining adequate legal counsel for such an endeavor ensures we’re completely unable to undertake such a task for the foreseeable future.

I figured it wasn't going to be a good idea but it's cool on paper. But my suggestion has to do with promoting MCM because of how much leverage it has in its niche. I strike that portion out. Just thought id through it in there.
