As I mentioned before, depending on the bank, an arbitration agreement may have been signed at account opening, which would mean that they would not go to civil court first, but would have it resolved by arbitration within the bank. It saves legal costs, and time. If the dispute is not settled with arbitration, then civil court is the next step.
