Anything to help advertise, I have a website but it looks shit at the moment. I'm always up for suggestions.

You could manage renting 2 days of Minecraft-MP for about $200, it would give you roughly between 600-800 joins throughout the course of the ad time. The hard part is getting players to stay, there are just too many factions servers out there. Whatever way you choose to advertise, you will need something unique that will make players want to stay.
Thanks for the advice! I will try and see if I can rent a slot for a day or two in the future. And you're right, It's hard to get players to stay, which is why I'm going to try my best to make sure the players do stay, and I hope that my server can keep the players.

You also want to have something on your server that makes it unique to other factions servers, so that players will stay. A great way to achieve this is custom plugins. There's nothing better than custom plugins when it comes to uniqueness, because if it's custom there isn't going to be another server with the same exact plugin, although there could be some that are similar. Also having a cool spawn really helps because when players go on and see the spawn and go "woah" then they think, "Maybe this server has some cool stuff", just by looking at the build. I feel you dude, I've struggled on all my servers. I can give you an example of some of the ones I've used: Random chests scattered across the map in factions that have mobs guarding them, so players have to kill the mobs to get to the chest, and another one is drug factions, so players would grow and sell drugs but they could get caught which would mean they lose a lot of money. It's a risk reward sort of aspect. I think as a basis you want to think of something that incorporates the risk reward feature, or brings all players together fighting for a reward, like on some servers they have supply drops which are really cool as they have cool rewards and bring players together.
I've got supply drops, Though my server is so dead they are so easy to obtain. We attempted at getting boss mobs at one point but again, our server is so dead it's hard to have any competition doing it, so there was no point. We can add tons of new features, though most of them require multiple people to be on, and if all of them are in the same faction, it makes it no fun. Drug factions is an old thing now, I don't know many people that play it to be honest. HCF is something that I myself enjoy but if you don't have 50-100 players on, it becomes no fun. Finding players is the hardest thing, and I'm sure every server has gone through the same thing. When you do so much hard work, and no one plays, it becomes frustrating.
Yep I've come across the same thing a couple of times. But I would do what Gordo says and buy a slot on minecraft-mp because it's cheaper than .org slots and you will still get some good advertising. Youtubers are good, but I've been scammed $600 just off of youtubers, and not a single one I've paid for was legit. Make them show proof of ownership and get them to add "abcdefg" to their channel description or something temporarily.
Thanks again for the suggestions, I really appreciate it. Most Youtubers i contact, to begin with don't reply, as I stated in the thread. But I will continue to contact. When I do contact, I always make sure they provide proof that they own the channel by putting something like "so and so from mcm" in their about section or something temp like you said. I might go ahead and do the mp slot, Though what's the difference between renting and buying? I've seen posts about people renting out slots and such, but I'm not exactly sure how that works. And I think the weekend would be most sufficient, But probably more expensive I would say?
Renting means you are buying slot time from people who have won the auction (bought the slot). Buying a full slot for example Minecraft-MP will normally cost a few grand but lasts for 30 days. Thats why renting is a good opportunity for smaller servers as you can rent a small portion of the 30 days for a lower cost.
