Hey guys! MCHelper here and today, I'm going to tell you some cheap (or free) advertising tips!

Step #1 - Offer a [Youtuber] rank. People with 500+ Subscribers can get your player rate up. Might not be a spectacular rise but the more you have, the more players will come. To get youtubers you should offer them a special perk. For example, when someone votes they get 500$ but when a youtuber votes they get 550$. I'm not sure how you could set this up but this is an example. Make sure to make some rules for them. Some of the rules servers do is to upload 1 video a week about their server or they lose their rank.

Step #2 - Offer a
[Streamer] rank for twitch.tv (or other services) streamers. This is pretty much the same thing as giving a youtuber rank but they have to live stream.

Step #3 - MinecraftServers.org slots are supposed to help you advertise by putting your server on the top of their homepage. I'm not sure how these work but they work! they get your playercount high! as proof below shows.

Step #4 - Voting gives you a lot of chance for advertising. Usually when the player votes, they get a reward and they tend to vote again if the server isn't too OP and it has good rewards. I'd recommend putting your server to as many voting services (such as Minestatus, MinecraftServers, Planet Minecraft, etc.) as you possibly could.

Step #5 - Giving rewards to people who invite a friend. This is a very unprofessional way to get players in my opinion but it does work. People would usually add a plugin for this that gives a reward to the person that advertised and the person who joined so they would carry on playing.

I hope this helps you out! Please leave a

These are all common sense methods that all of us have tried except the .org slot which cost loads of money.

MCHelper Can you actually find free/inexpensive ways to advertise and get a higher playerbase that few of us have tried before?

Set up some bots on minecraft related chat rooms and have it post your server every few mins. Try instagram advertising. I know it sounds bad and I haven't tried it myself yet but accounts with 10k plus followers will make an impact on your player base. They are much cheaper then youtube videos and sometimes can get them for free.

Err Apart from this, I'd only be able to say "Project Wonderful" or "Adbolt"

It's cheap for the amount of players you can get.

Not worth it for the actual retention though to be honest. I've seen it give many servers a HUGE player boost, including mine, MontyCraft, Mineslam, and others, but then it just suddenly drops when the slot ends.
If they enjoy your server, then they will stay even when the slot ends.

I think using spambots is a pretty unethical way to advertise your server, and that crashing other people's servers/chatrooms with them won't necessarily appeal to potential players.

It's not a spam bot, it's a bot. It just simply puts out a message every 10 minutes or so, something like "Anyone want to play on a server with me. I know a good server its (ip)"

By definition, that's spam.

lol wonder how many people use that, seems like when you install you are asking for others to advert on your server... as its a mod you install to your server (or client unsure) that sends messages to join a server / advertisement others paid for... unless i'm mistaken
