Hello,

I've been a lot more active in shout box recently and the amount of advertisements that people post are crazy. Shoutbox should be a place where people can talk to each other, not where people can advertise their threads and services... It's getting a bit out of hand now, sb should be place where people can hang out and get away from all of that. There's so many advertisements people just ignore them, it's just annoying and fills up the chat.

Just take a look at this image for example,

Kind regards,

I agree, but I think being able to advertise in the sb helps a lot of people out with there services

I beg to differ; Advertising in shoutbox is one of the most, if not the most appealing feature of MCM and Premium.
Not being able to advertise in shoutbox would probably cause a many people to not upgrade.
And looking at it from a non-money perspective, getting people to your service is hard, and many people never browse the sub-forums, so I don't think that much of your views (on threads) come directly from the sub-forums.
The shoutbox advertisement is the best thing about MCM, if you look at it from a business perspective. It is cheap ($10 one-time), low-effort and effective.

Getting rid of it however would probably increase the value/demand of sticky threads and side banners.

I disagree, it's one of the most minor features. A major feature would be the ability to sell accounts, change your name, delete your own threads, and more.

I kinda see it as a donor perk, its somewhere that your advertising will be seen and only donors can do it making a good reason to purchase Premium or Supreme.

Edit: Looking at that screenshot it looks out of hand, I think that there should be a automatic system/rule put in place that you can't advertise the same thing twice within say a minuet. If people were so evade this by changing their message ever so slightly they would revive warning points

While I understand why people disagree with this, and I have advertised in the shoutbox in the past, I still think it should be completely removed. It's been said in the past that the shoutbox is a place to escape business and hangout and talk to others, and it's hard to do that with constant spam of advertisements from everyone. Staff aren't allowed to be contacted in shoutbox because they are there to hang out and take a break, so why should everyone else be able to do business in the shoutbox when it's a place to "hang out and take a break"?
