Hello, I’ve been looking to get a discord server for a while, not much luck so far but I have some burning questions about taking one over and on how efficiently run it (I had some failed attempts if you can call it like that). Thanks in advance for your time!

1. How do I know whether a server is “botted” or not, despite from the chat, are there any other things I can ask for?
2. How does the pricing of discord servers work, I know it always depends on the activity as example but what should I be looking for with a budget of about $600? Or with a budget of $1200?
3. If I were to buy one, how do I proceed from there? Do I immediately change branding or should I take it slowly.
4. Is this even a good thing to do? I mean, I’m pretty sure that I want it but besides the fun, are there also good opportunities to make your investments back?
5. At last, what is the best way to avoid scammers, middleman? Any other precautions I have to take?

That were all my question, thank you so much for reading them and hopefully answering them. Have a great day!

Kind regards

If you want to if the server is active or not. You need first to know about "Tokens". Every account has a token and there is many people who create a new Discord account then just get their token using f12 then adding the token into a hosted bot with other multiple tokens and add all of them into the server. Then you can see offline tokens ( accounts ) or online tokens that just online because of the host.

From this explaining you can see that maybe the server you want to buy contain tokens ( fake users just empy accounts ). The accounts may contain about, avatar or desciription because they are real account but empty because no one use them. Those accounts controled by a Discord host. So maybe you see a 10000 members Discord server maybe 8000 of them are tokens and maybe all of them are real members. You need to check the logs, audit log, acitivites such as reactions and chat. You can see the latest announcement messages if reaction included. Then see how many reacted to the reactions. Make a quick comparing with the whole members count and the reactions. If server include 3000 member and only 20 reacting to a message so the server is dead or there is many tokens.

2. Don't only see the whole members count, see the online and the activity. If the server activity is really good and there is many people messaging so the price will be overpriced. For servers over 10k members it will be 1000$ and more maybe 1500$.

3. First before buying any Discord server you need to know your idea and what you gonna do with the Discord server then you need to check the Discord server you gonna buy. You can't just buy a cryptocurrency Discord server then make it a Minecraft or Roblox Discord. If you want to make a Minecraft Discord go buy a Minecraft Discord server ( that I prefer ) or find a gaming community Discord server. Otherwise don't buy because that will be so bad while changing and many members will not be intrested.

Also a good point to know if you are changing try to change it slow like if you bought a gaming community and you just want it a Minecraft server then try first to make more events in Minecraft becuase the gaming communities like the events. Then make more things in Minecraft and so on untill many people like to play Minecraft. But don't do it quick.

4. To buy a running Discord server with many members is not something bad if you know what to do when buying it. If you know how to run it and don't make mistakes that make the server die. If it's your first time try to buy something small to learn more or be a Discord server management in a big server to have more knowledge about it.

5. There is many scammers also you'll find too many scammers while trying to buy with a huge price like 1.5k$.
Middleman can be a good way to avoid scammers but you need also to check if the user has the ownership. If you are trying to buy from a forum site same as mc-market you can see the user rep and if there is other people bought things from him.

Think always that middleman is the best way, even if you are going to pay the middleman a proccentage of the price.
