Hello everybody that is viewing this thread.
Hope you, your friends, your family are making it through this global crisis safely and healthy.
As we are facing this global crisis we are facing other issues along with it. Particularly racism, discrimination, and prejudice. As many through the states and globe are viewing or even participating, there are protests all around under the banner of "Black Lives Matter" while that is true and the cause has my full support I would like to reassure everybody that whether you are Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, regardless of your background or ethnicity, your life matters as well. I live in the states and being somebody with parents that are brown let alone immigrants I have dealt with discrimination, racism growing up and even till now even however it was mostly in school early on. While it may not be as significant compared to what others are facing or other communities, discrimination whether small or big should have no tolerance as will it not only create tension between people and communities but can also lead to mental damage for some leading further to suicidal intentions and god forbid the rest. If you are a victim of racism or discrimination and it is taking a toll on you, I recommend talking to somebody about it whether be a trusted friend or family or a therapist. If you are in the midst of suicidal thoughts please talk to your family or call for help. Your life matters and not only will you be affecting your life but those around you.

KEY MESSAGE
Simply being non-racist isn't enough, it is something you should condone and be against as that is the only way to demolish the far superior toxic disease.

I would appreciate it if you have nothing nice to say about the topic or what I shared in general, please don't even bother commenting.

If you've been through a bad experience and been able to overcome it or have something to share, feel free to. I would hope for everybody to respect what anybody has to share. It is tough times like this where we have to come together and be united.

The "All Lives Matter" belief only comes into play when an oppressed group is trying to fight for their freedom, and their specific struggles and injustices come center stage.

This sums it all up. In a time like this when the Black Community is facing unspeakable injustices, we cannot lazily defend the statement "All Lives Matter". Your actions are obviously in good intent, but we should all be focusing on helping the Black Community, not attempting to suppress and compare them to other groups. It solves nothing.

Yeah I agree with this. However, I believe that there's more than just what the Black Community is facing. Innocent people in Palestine are being murdered each day, like Iyad Halak who was an autistic man who was brutally murdered by the IDF on his way to his school based on the "assumption" that he had a gun. We need to focus more on what's happening around the world, and push the fight for everyones lives to be respected, especially those who's lives are under threat as of now.

Correct. The fact of the matter is every group faces some sort of oppression, but when the argument that "All Lives Matter" is used to replace, or invalidate a belief like Black Lives Matter, it is counterproductive, and hurts more than it benefits anymore. The reason it's Black Lives Matter, and not "All Lives Matter", is because as of now, in the United States, and many more places around the world, the Black Community is facing injustices unique to their community, no group has the same issues as another, so when we use an argument such as "All Lives Matter" we are ignoring those group-specific issues, and not helping the belief "All Lives Matter" was supposed to replace.

Yeah that's what I mean, but injustice occurs around the world. That's why it's important to take from this chaotic time in the US that we need to focus on the lives of those people who cannot defend their own lives.

One thing I cannot agree with is the statement: "no lives matter until black lives do".

There is no buts, the Black Community is facing their own unique injustices, and shifting the focus to all groups around the world effectively ignores the fact that they are experiencing those injustices.

no lives matter until black lives do

I believe you're confusing the quote "All lives don't matter until Black lives do", with "No lives matter until black lives do", which is the far less common one. Not once have I heard that said, or published.

For the first part, I don't agree with that. There are "buts" in this. For sure it's horrible what these poor innocent people in the US are going through and it's disgusting how police officers can justify this sort of cruelty based on the colour of these people's skin, however people all around the world go through injustice similar or even worse! I'm not saying to ignore the BML movement, not at all! But rather what I mean is that we should focus on injustice as a whole and I really really do hope that people now will finally understand that there needs to be something done to combat injustice that so many people around the world face. We are all the same no matter what the colour of our skin is.

And yeah I confused the two quotes

Again, nothing you are saying is incorrect, but like I have said, no group has the same injustices. You cannot attempt to define a term such as injustice, because it can have multiple definitions. When you generalize the term "injustice", you take away the many definitions it may have.

Black Lives Matter attacks the injustices the Black community faces

Asian Lives Matter attacks the injustices the Asian community faces

Hispanic Lives Matter attacks the injustices the Hispanic community faces

This rule can be applied to any group, because it focuses on that group. It just doesn't work when you try to compile them all together.

You have a valid point and I understand what you are saying, my intent was not to compare to it the current situation in US in regards to police brutality or extreme racism against the Black Community but to remind people and also to expand as people are taking a stance and waking up.

a man goes to a restaurant, he says "I want food", and another family comes in, they say "We want food". Family gets their food, thats good! Doesn't solve the problem of the man not having food

Ever hear that change starts with yourself? America cant support people all over the world if they dont even have there own shit in order.

Exactly.
I never said that America has to support Palestine and other countries. Everyone should work together to tackle injustice, but unfortunately that's not how our world works
