I've seen tons of accounts made solely for the purpose of resolving scam reports and making appeals for other accounts being banned, which is pretty inefficient and falsely inflates the amount of members on the site.

Giving them the permissions to post in those sections instead would make the forum tidier, and also reduce the amount of work that the staff have to do, since they wouldn't have to bother restricting the accounts and then banning them after, and it'd also be easier to keep track of who's who.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Agreed. Banned members should only be able to see one section of the forums: the support request sub-section. This makes making a ban appeal so much easier, and there's no downside to this.

Pretty much what ZsZ said, no downsides to this. Makes it easier for the Banned user, less hassle on the staff's side, would be pretty simple to change too, wouldn't it?

No sir, it wouldn’t be easy. This idea has been planned for a while now, but due to the way that bans work on xenforo it isn’t as easy of a change as it seems.

Agreed ^

It would be a great thing to have but, as Mick said, it's hard to implement. Nonetheless, would love to see it!

We still provide ban reasons and have a banned members logged and all stuff like that, so this idea wouldn't really work.
Just do it like you handle suspensions? Like restricted acc sr. They don’t have perms to do much, right?

Half of those react to a group rather than the main element of ban.
If you're talking about xenforo then it is possible to do it within that, but for addons I'm not sure.

No, Mick's absolutely right. No decent add-on exists to replace xenforo ban system, and xenforo bans aren't as customisable as you may think. Chris (Verringer) tried working with permissions with bans and ultimately had to sacrifice ban reasons (i.e. the ban page) for this exact reason. It isn't trivial in the slightest.

It is possible,
There's a very rare chance an addon would be required, but considering changes to the current addon such as the ban list, and the ban reason, changes within their coding would be required

At the moment we aren't planning to do any more development for our site until we can migrate to XF2 since we'll have to rewrite everything then. Perhaps once we move to XF2 and have fixed all the bugs that come with that and have more time for some new development we can work on this, but for the moment this isn't something that we can justify the development for.

Denied, thank you for the suggestion.
