Been suggested and denied before.

It's to prevent tampering with evidence.

Does it take you more than a minute to fix a spelling mistake? Because you get a minute after you send it to edit it. Like Christopher said, it's so you can't mess with any evidence a user can use against you in reports/scam reports, just like why you can't edit a scam report post.

you can already edit PM's,for about a minute. After that it's locked to prevent tampering
