Apparently you can't look to buy equity in servers in the established servers section but you can sell servers you have partial ownership of so it makes no sense.

Allow the sale of partial ownership of someone's server in established servers.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

My issue isn't with Mick selling the server, it's with the fact that based on the rules it shouldn't have been allowed. We both would have had ownership of the server thus making it nonexclusive based on how I was explained the interpretation of the rules by harry.

My issue is you can't say that a server being sold that has multiple owners is considered exclusive, but then say buying into a server makes the server nonexclusive.
What matters is what the receiver will receive, not what the current state of the product is. If the receiver receives exclusivity, even if the product is currently owned by more than one individual, then it's an exclusive product, simple as. Once the transaction is completed, the previous owners have no relevance.

If you look at this in reverse, what you're practically arguing is that I could call my product exclusive when only selling 50% ownership, just because I, at the current moment in time, hold exclusive ownership. I hope you can see why that just doesn't work/make sense.

Mick sold the server to two owners would this be agaisnt the rules as well? Since the buyers both only bought 50%?
He can make deals privately if he wants, just like you or I can? Unless he explicitly mentioned in the thread that he was wanting to sell the server non-exclusively, or wouldn't accept exclusive offers privately, I can't see how that would be in violation?

For instance, if I made a thread offering to sell exclusive ownership of my product, but then receive a private offer for 50%, I'm not bound to decline this offer simply because I also posted that thread (nor should receive warning points for posting misleading content if I accepted the offer). As long as I close/trash the thread afterwards to avoid confusion, I don't see any issue.

After internal discussion, we've come to a solid idea of how the policy should be phrased to be clear to both users and staff. Regarding the sale of servers our policy is:

Do not offer or promote loans, IOUs, or investments in which ownership of equal value in the invested project is not immediately received

This means that it is still allowed to be selling equity in your server, but you cannot use it as a loan where payback is required. If anyone has any questions about this please create a ticket and our team will assist you.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion
