AMD Processor for a Dedi?

So, I've seen a lot of cheap AMD dedicated servers clocking over 4 GHz for like < $40 a month when I'd normally have to buy an i7 xxxxk for that, how well do they preform? I know they're known for being cheaper and not as good as intel but what would be good for MC and would it keep high TPS?

How a CPU preforms is often looked at by the amount of GHz. However, this isn’t really a true way to look at how the CPU will perform, other factors like cache, cores and other features like hyper threading. The CPU you mentioned sounds a lot like the AMD FX. AMD CPU’s don’t tend to perform as well as intel CPU’s however they are a lot cheaper. This is why a lot of budget gaming PC’s come with an FX. If you are looking for a cheap high performances dedi, then the FX will be fine.

Thanks, I have the money to buy an OVH 4790k server but I'm not going to spend $80 when I can spend $20 because I'm just setting it up at the moment before I transfer it over to the game server. Just looking for something with more RAM and more clock speed than my OVH VPS that I can use to test some stuff.
