Okay, here's the point that all of the democrats that want tighter gun security are dismissing.
It's not that we need tighter gun control- it's that the FBI was not doing it's job.
Let me explain. The FBI already had a watch on this guy. He commented with his real name, (not an alias, not a username) on a vlogger's video about a year before this incident that he would "become a professional school shooter."
This particular vlogger contacted the FBI and had an interview with them. They left, and added him to the watchlist.
A year later, this happens.
Tighter gun restrictions will not stop criminals from getting a gun. It is very easy to get a gun illegally in the US, and tighter restrictions will just drive this market to be more lucrative and popular to people looking to get ahold of one.
What would stop criminals is a revamped FBI that actually did it's job, instead of keeping tabs and eating popcorn while each person on their watchlist commits a new atrocity.
While I can understand why you would want tighter gun regulations, please understand that no matter how tight we get, guns are still easily obtainable. We shouldn't punish everybody because an atrocity occurs- we should plan for the next one by identifying who could commit them beforehand, ergo, a better FBI.
