People should stop opening this kind of threads, there is literally new one every week and the responses are pretty much the same, you can read the responses there instead of opening a new thread every time
Or just read the docs of every anticheat that interest you and test them with popular clients, and choose the one that has the featutes you need, showed best results when testing, and feats best to your price range

I'm sorry, but there is nothing wrong with me opening up a thread, even if there is many on the same topic. People have their own comments for threads. I'm not asking for a list (but I will check it out). I was asking what server owners prefer and if there anti cheat does the job for them. I'm sure there is many threads regarding out there for anti cheats, but I'm looking for server owners personal opinions on one

I'm not gonna lie, seeing 1.8 sweatys who have no idea what they're talking about recommend everybody use whatever big private anticheat is popular right now always makes me shiver a little bit. It's like a child using a word they just learned for the first time without any context for when it actually should be used.
In particular watching randoms tell Hypixel ignorantly to use something like "AntiGamingChair" (the name honestly makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit, it's so reminiscent of the "fortnite speech pattern") as if one, they're going to listen to some 15 year old who swears he knows what the best anticheat is because his favorite server says they use it, or two as if it's actually a public purchasable plugin.
I hate to say it, but nowadays the majority of anticheats, at least pvp specific 1.8 plugins are basically the same. Sure, some run better than others, some have slightly different checks, but at the end of the day anticheat technology, at least for 1.8 pvp servers has remained pretty consistent between plugins, regardless of how silly of name someone gives theirs.
For real, I don't know why people feel the need to by the latest sketchy anticheat from MC-Market for rather insane prices when there are countless good (+affordable!) ones for sale or free on Spigot. Even worse, people will go to leak sites and download anything that has a name like Janitor or Watchdog. The anticheat market is incredibly saturated, and the technology has gotten so advanced that at this point we aren't seeing any MAJOR differences between plugins being released. It's always "slightly better" or less laggy or blahblahblah. NCP, Spartan, AAC, and AntiAura are all examples of plugins that have made significant strides in anticheat technology, and are all available either for free or for a nominal fee compared to xxFuckedYourMomxx's "KY Jelly" anticheat for sale on MC-Market for 400 bucks. I promise you these plugins are not significantly different from ones available on Spigot, or from eachother.
I know some kid with soaking wet hands is gonna slide his bacteria infested razer gaming mouse over to this post and start typing about how him buying a 500 dollar mostly stolen anticheat for a server he hasn't even made yet was the best idea of his life, and how he wouldn't be caught dead with a pleb normie client like NoCheatPlus.
Anticheats, specifically in PvP 1.8.8 fanboy culture are less about actual performance nowadays as they are about social status. Have something custom for the sake of having something custom. Have something expensive just so you can LARP that you're some big famous server owner. Well wanna know something? I used to work on a server run by someone who is now currently one of the biggest Minecraft Youtubers in history. Before he blew up, made some connections, he was PIRATING whatever anticheat he could find on [Censored] that shared a name with what Kohi or whatever was using at the time. It's not about safety, performance, raw statistics; it's about a flashy name and being able to say "well we use this servers anticheat soooo."
Anyways, the point of this post is to rant. If you disagree, cool. If you agree, also cool. But I do want to thank some of the anticheat developers who are active on Spigot, have been supporting their anticheats for years, and will continue to do so, unlike some of the frauds who pump out a reskin of the same anticheat every year in hopes of boosting sales. Show some love to vagdedes, joehot200, MarkElf, konsolas, asofold, and so many others. Buy from and support developers who actually care about the technology, not the social status. They will keep working hard to build the frameworks that all those bozos over on the dark side leech off of for a quick buck.

I mean, they aren't wrong. I'm happy to go with any anti cheat plugin out there. But I'd rather know that an anti cheat is going to stand up to it's job. I'm just looking for something to rely if there is no staff online or whatever the case may be.
I don't really have a set budget.
I would recommand Deus for pvp based game modes such as factions and hcf
