High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

I would go with OVH's VPS just because you can do much more with a VPS.

If you would like to just host a Minecraft Server and maybe other things, I would recommend OVH Ram.

If you need any help setting up a VPS, message me and I will be glad to help ;)

Low budget + No knowledge of Linux -> MC Host
Low budget + Knowledge of Linux -> VPS
High budget + No knowledge of Linux -> Dedicated server + System admin to set it up
High budget + Knowledge of Linux -> Dedicated server

The basic rule for picking what you are going to host your server on.

Relataively high budget, no knowledge on VPS, but would like to save for advertising, could I get someone to set up the VPS for me?

Id suggest AnvilNode over an OVH VPS for your application. OVH VPS's are clocked lower than I would like 2.4Ghz. If you really want a VPS I would suggest MikeA (extraVM) who sells VPS's off of OVH's I7's.

Yes, there are a few people that can set them up. Depending on what your wanting.

If you want it setting up for free, you can hire someone with low rep, and hope they know what they are doing. Sometimes do, but I have seen quite a few times where someone has missed out a vital step and left the VPS vulnerable. (Often not enabling override in the apache config, so people can just download the Multicraft sqlite database).

You can also pay someone around $5 who is more reputable, and generally knows what they are doing installing a panel. (I offer this for around $5).

Or you can pay someone more experienced ($10-20) for peace of mind to be sure everythng is done right.

Okay thank you so much. As of a VPS, I'm willing to spend $30 a month on hosting, what would be the best option?

I'll make sure to check him out, thank you.

Just put crankedfactions.com as the hostname. Leave the NS as default that shouldnt matter in this case.

Intel Xeon X3470 isn't good for mc, stick to i7 if you can.
Its okay for MC. I wouldnt go as far as saying its not good. Almost 3Ghz base clockspeed, with upto 3.60GHz turbo. Most i7's dont run that much faster than that (3.8GHz to 4.2GHz). He cant afford a dedicated server with an i7 for $30 a month. So it would be either a dedicated X3470 or an i7 shared with several other people. (Which most i7 hosts (6700k +) are $4 per GB +) the X3470 would still be a far better deal in this case.

I guess for 15 players it will be good I was just thinking overall.

And I would get OVH's VPS SSD 3 and get someone to install Multicraft on it. I'm sure someone can do that for you on here for cheap.
Going on previous experiance, I would say it could deal with 40 - 60 players. If he is wanting 2-3 servers. Then it could do 2-3, 40-60 player servers. Since each server would run on a diffrent thread. Main limit to the number of players, would be the fact that MC's main thread (Where most things happen) is only a single thread. Meaning it cant really utilise more than one core at a time. But several servers, would use several of its cores.

The OVH VPS's are good. Reliable and a good price, for 8GB RAM. Though usually the people I have set those up for have a playerbase of under 25. Since a shared vcore running at 2.4GHz isnt really great for much more. (I use my 3 for webhosting and monitoring). If he has a small playerbase, then that would be a good option. If larger, a better VPS / Dedicated would be the way to go.

Just so you know, we have tested a 16GB X3470 with a 120GB SSD to support a network of 5 servers and 110 players. The server is an entry level server, it's main purpose is to get people into dedicated servers, to host their 20-100 player-base server and then upgrade as needed. There is no reason to purchase a high-end server unless you know for a fact you will get the players to utilize its power.
