You can use a middleman at any time. It may not be as necessary in a $1 deal vs a $100 deal, but if you're worried about a scam there's no shame in using one. It's rather safe.

Hey guys, i just joined this place to try to sell stuff and make money but i'm having a hard time with trust issues. I really want to gain a good rep and make money but really, how can i get trust? I know trading and not scamming will gain trust but how do i do trades with my weak rep?

You could consider setting up an online store that provides instant gratification upon item purchase. People can download the item right away, after payment. This will work for certain things.

For custom work you may also consider providing the work first or take only a portion up front until you build up your rep. With that being said, don't trust everyone. I would verify that they have a good standing on McM as a minimum. Good luck.
