Hey,

So I've been wanting to make YouTube videos for a while. By making I mean editing, recording, blah blah blah. I don't mind recording because all of the time I improvise on the spot, but my biggest problem is editing. I know how to edit and I know how to edit well, problem is finding the content that people generally find entertaining. I have over 200 hours of footage, but can't seem to find anything because I lack creativity due to mental problems (autism). Unfortunately I don't have the mental capacity for that sort of stuff.

Does anyone have any tips on how to have a creative mindset that they're willing to share? Thanks.

Think this might be a bit broad but just think, what would you enjoy watching? A successful video is not one that gets likes, views etc but one which you genuinely enjoyed making and has brought you joy. Good luck mate! <3

depends what sort of content you are creating, often it can be good to storyboard and have a rough sort of plot arc for youtube stuff and it can help guide the content

True. This advice is hugely popular but truth is I'm a very easily pleased person. I pretty much like a lot of videos because of a lack of imagination, it's the only entertainment I have. I have considered making wacky solo content, very similar to SMII7Y.

I'm wanting it to center around gaming, more specifically helping advertise around my Twitch channel. It's just hard finding clips in the hours of footage when you don't have the creativity to see what to use.

Big oof.

Appreciate the responses <3

Asking for opinions is always a good thing, I would suggest making mind maps and storyboards too. Helps a lot with the process.

No one lacks the capacity to be creative as its basically imagining ;-;

what i try do is just start and see where it takes me and when u have got enough content try ask people online and ur family/friends

I have done YouTube since 2014, and made many experiences throughout the years. As mentioned above, thinking "what type of content I like to watch", or "how should this thumbnail be to make me click it" is a smart way to go. Thinking outside of the box is good, and try to come up with new ways of presenting already know subjects, or even harder, come up with a subject or something completely new yourself.

Now, you should always make content that you would want to make, and want to post. If its good views you are going for there are some type videos that are absolutely popping. In the minecraft community, videos such as tutorials and texture-pack releases are pretty popular. But again, the tutorial maker or pack maker that presented the idea or item first, gets the most recognition. Most of the time.

Take the parts of the game YOU enjoy the most and make it your own. Change it up in any way you can think if. Open your mind to notice what small details your audience enjoys and most of all don't forget to dedicate time to just sit down and develop new ideas.
