Anyone know any good advertisement methods for a server?

I used to be a dev on a server back in May and all we did was post our server on a few server lists and we average 15 - 30 Players a day. The server shut down due to the owner going to college. I recently launched a server around last week with the same concept but with 10x more features and overall polishing. We have done everything we did before but still only average around 4-7 players a day. The server genre is SMP Earth and it has Planes and whatnot. I'm assuming it the time of the year since school is starting but does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Thank you :)

You could make a discord server than withhold the server whilst it being done. You also could add invite rewards that would bring players from other player. Depending on the game mode you could add member bundles.
