Picture this.

I've had a report to write since September.

It's now less than 24 hours until the deadline.

I haven't even started it yet.

Sound familiar?

Sadly more then familiar, then I miss days and it just gets worse, haven't had an overdue project in a while at least. I kinda just abandon my computer until I finish it the last 3 days (or try)

Remove distractions from your life, plan every moment of your life out (from the moment you wake up until you fall asleep), reduce choices that you have to make during the day, and speak to a counselor to sort out some underlying issues in your life.

Solid advice, but it never really works. I never seem to produce my best work unless I'm under intense pressure. I have no doubts I'll finish the report, but it will cost me a good nights sleep.[DOUBLEPOST=1512429456][/DOUBLEPOST]

Abandoning my computer ends up with me just not doing anything at all. I can't stand handwriting anything.

Sadly the teacher thinks it's useful to learn how to write, most of the time you'd have access to a computer and a printer, you know? One or two is fine but damn she gives 700 and expects us to like writing them, I don't even type fast and I'm the fastest typer, like please just let me do it, I'll do it 3x faster anyways.

Also, one time I had to resort to deleting one of my games like a year ago, don't really suggest doing it but it works if you really need it to.

I've lost my passion for gaming as I got older. I don't really play anything for longer than a few hours, and forget about it forever basically.

Start off by slowly removing distractions. This doesn't have to be in a day, it just has to be done slowly so you adjust without relapsing the day after. Talking to a counselor is very important, but that doesn't mean picking some random shit counselor that's at your school. Find someone who has experience and knows how to help, and someone that you trust.

I'm beyond school now, despite what impression my forum profile may give off. I absolutely agree with your advice for anyone who is in school and is in this situation anyway. You're a really nice wholesome person :)

True, kind of the same, still play one game actively. Sucks that there is homework and they just can't get it done in school, right? You could try alarm clocks but that didn't really work the two times I was suggested to do it, but good luck with the assignment, lol.

(Missed the part about beyond school, but still)

Thanks. I'm sure I'll manage, just at the cost of not sleeping tonight.

I procrastinate like shit but if it's important I get it done first, so I will have more time to do fun stuff later!

I don't know where you live but in north america, the government here in canada takes profit from casinos or gambling institutions and reinvests it into the general population by offering free counseling programs to gamblers and anyone else in the province. I'd assume that also applies to the us.

I'm from the UK. If I really did feel like I had mental health issues, I'd go to a GP in a heartbeat. Truth is I'm just lazy and unmotivated to do work that doesn't really interest me. More of a character flaw than a mental health issue[DOUBLEPOST=1512430242][/DOUBLEPOST]

I mean this is technically important, but I still leave things until I don't have much time left. Even then I still take breaks every few hours to recharge my self.

It's not so much that you might have "mental" health issues. It may just be that you're unsure of what you want to do with your life. A lot of pressure is built up for young individuals. It could be another reason. I don't know if there is a lot of negativity associated with going to see a counselor but at least in my mind I believe it's being normalized as time goes on. The worst thing that could happen if you see a counselor is that it confirms your original theory of it not helping you. But if it actually works you have all the more to gain.

I know where I want to go in life. I already have most of the way to becoming a qualified professional accountant. Honestly, I have a pretty cushy life without much to worry about. Still, I'm grateful people like you exist and look out for others.

A lot of people peg me out to be a horrible person, but a lot of them haven't even spoken to me :( But regardless, you stated above that those things haven't been working for you so why not try something new :)

Yeah maybe. Thanks.

When I do my homework to keep myself from not getting bored. I'll do a couple of problems then play games for 5 minutes. Like a 2:1 homework to game ( or just computer ) time. Do a couple math problems then search the web for 5 minutes. Sure it takes longer but in the long run it's more fun and entertaining.
