I hate to trash talk anyone but that quality would be worth around $5 if that considering almost any server owner could make that.

between $5 and $10 for the first and between $10 and $20 for the second.
Maybe most server owners can make that themselves, but it still saves time to let others do it.

Anyway, that's my appraisal. You're free to disagree with it, I won't argue with you on that front. I'd just say those prices are very low for custom builds. premade, I'd say the lower brackets of my estimate would be the most. But custom builds, if done well, usually cost more.

That said, it is usually considered extremely bad manners to cancel a commission after it has been completed or nearly completed. You just had someone work for you (you agreed on the price beforehand, I assume) for multiple hours, then proceed to tell them the deal is off because you found someone who was willing to do it for less AFTER they finish. and proceed to tell them they should lower their prices as well.
Just saying this for future reference. If something like that happened to me I would be very unwilling to deal with that person, and possibly warn others not to either.

Well, let's go back to basic math. You said $5 for the first, and $10 for the second. $3.50 is less than $5 or $10. I got what I wanted for a low price, and you come in and start criticizing my builders!

You missed my point entirely. yes, you did get your builds cheaply. that's great
And no, I'm not criticizing your builders. I'm just saying that if you've asked someone to make it, its bloody rude to tell them you don't want it after they finish it. If you tell them before its finished, its ok if a bit impolite. But If you cancel after they finished it, its rude regardless of the reason (unless you just had serious personal things happening or something similarly serious).
You just had someone work for you for numerous hours then told them their work isn't wanted anymore because someone else did it for less.

For them that's like working delivering newspapers, finishing their rounds and then being told they won't get paid because this other guy went around and did it as well, but is fine with getting paid less than they agreed on with their boss.

if you don't understand that or disagree with it, that's just fine. But it means that you'll be limited to your current builders and people like them, those that do it more for the fun than for the money. Nothing bad about that, but it usually means they won't be going top-level quality. They'll still make decent quality builds, and builds that are very good for the amount they get paid. but with an attitude like that no higher class builders will be interested.

Wonderful speech about the newspapers. But that's not what happened. He was building a completely different thing for me. AND I offered a Downpayment, just so something like this wouldn't happen. I just decided not to buy the build.
