In accordance to the Minecraft EULA, which is even more strictly being enforced, you can't have a P2W server.
Every Minecraft server has the option to buy a rank, We simply do the same but have the option to do /rankup to buy the rank you can buy on the store ingame.
Is this not indicating that "those who can afford to P2W, can P2W at their own choice"?
It means that people that want to spend money on the server may choose to do so otherwise you can gain the same perks by grinding your way to receiving them.
how much of a benefit/advantage comes with the ranks?
lets put this into perspective:
you have a default rank and a vip rank. vip rank gives you a $1M, 8 spawner reclaim and a super op kit. if all the vip players have these op kits and gear, it becomes much, much harder for the default ranks to rank up. even if it doesn't strictly violate the eula/be directly p2w, you have to think about it from all angles.
When you obtain a rank there is no /reclaim command or reclaim period. Also, you can gain a maxed out custom enchant p5 (Best set) set by either grinding at outpost or at your own base. The rank just allows you to sorta bypass the grindy aspect of the gamemode.
Although there is still a process to gaining the higher tier based armour, this is rocking on the fine line of "pay to win".
If you have a full faction of donator's, versus a full faction of non-donator's who aren't set up yet, the other faction has a better advantage because they bought it.
It's like that on every single factions server. But nobody else does /rankup on factions.
Have you ever played factions servers, in fact, any server? Most servers have this P2W aspect regardless of if they say they do or don't. Hypixel for example MVP++ has perks that other ranks don't and it can't be earned from grinding ingame, so this server is less P2W already. Stop trashing his thread, you may as well have posted what you said on any post in the recruitment section since most have this aspect already.

You just compared Hypixel to an in-development factions server. Yes, Hypixel has perks that other ranks don't but none of them influence or give an advantage to the gameplay of the purchasers, they are all cosmetic based, so that was a terrible comparison.
But yes, I've played many servers, not much of factions but I do know that if I joined a factions server and was raided by a full faction by entirely maxed out donators that are only where they are because they bought their way to the top, would discourage me to continue playing.
Also based on the thread advertising the option to be P2W, it's going to be messy.

"Not much of factions" Not much else needs to be said. Once again stop trashing this thread, especially when you don't really know what you're talking about. Not sure if you know this but you cannot join a factions server and instantly be raided since they don't have a base... players also start by making bases underground without claims so that they cannot be found and raided.
Regardless of what comparison it is, I could mention many of the top servers and all have P2W factors. PvPWars; Vanity and Cosmic three huge prison, skyblock and faction servers that have heavy P2W aspects. In the end, your trashing threads with no idea what you're talking about.

Hypixel is all cosmetics. You gain no "extra perks" - as in Spawners, OP Gear, etc. by purchasing that rank. As outlined in the EULA, your server can offer purchasable items in which there is no disparity between the ability to play the game amongst those who aren't able to purchase the items, in this case, a rank. Hence, having the ability to do /nick or open a private game (which is what MVP++ offers) is abiding by the EULA; while, purchasing a rank that say gives you $1 Million right away is a disadvantage for those who cannot buy the rank as that allows for the player to easily have a stronger base, buy more faction wealth (spawners), and overall dominate those new players or those left with the default rank.
So as someone who manages servers and has staffed on one of the most popular, former, Minecraft servers (wont say the name as clear consideration to not advertise on another server's thread), this is a clear breach in the EULA which every server agrees to.
