does anyone know if when you get a notification on your phone from a app like Snapchat or discord it appears on the Apple Watch? Or is it just pre downloaded apps like iMessage and Mail.
Yeah, you get notifications for those apps. With discord you're also able to respond to the message from your apple watch but it's a bit of a pain to do.
