April Fundraiser - Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal Cancers infects the lower rectum or colon. There are more than 200,000 cases in the US alone.

I suggest that we hold a fundraiser with a goal of $2,000. We did so well on the Water fundraiser, I think we can do half that in April.

The prize would be a colored name scaling from Red to Pink, and a medal with either a heart or the cancer symbol.

It would cost $20 and all proceeds would go to the Colon Cancer Alliance, https://www.ccalliance.org/ .

Yes, this is an amazing idea and it would really help out. My uncle died of cancer only 2 weeks ago.

I'm sorry for your loss, I hope he passed peacefully and he is in a better place. We should do his to bring awareness.

Sorry but I have to disagree.
There shouldn't too many Fundraisers. Having it once in a while makes them special, but if we keep doing them too fast, there would be no point for MCM to host them.
If you want to donate, donate straight to them.

Also, having new name colors would be even worse.

I agree, if you actually want to donate, you should do it directly and not just do it for a name color.

But I actually agree with this. Maybe make it an every two months events for fundraisers. It would be a really positive advertisement for this site. Mick consider my comment. It would wouldn't it?

My hope for this year is that we can have monthly announcements, and so far that's going pretty well. I want to have something like 1 contest, 1 giveaway and 1 fundraiser per year.

We didn't have a fundraiser or giveaway last year so I may do another near the end of this year in September or so, but until then I want to hold off for now.

Also if we do hold one it will probably for a name colour that isn't pink or red since we had pink for the NBCF fundraiser and red is reserved as a colour for staff. Thoughts on having a poll closer to the time where you can vote for the charity?

I still stand by this, so I'll deny this suggestion. It was a great idea, and it still may be a possibility for us to do it for that particular charity, but I think that next time we'll do something that the community votes on.
