Hello! I'm Aidan and I've been working on a small project called Arcovia for the past month. The current plan is to release as a 'vanilla-ish' survival server at some point later this summer, but it would certainly be helpful to get second opinions and extra assistance to help me bring this dream of mine into fruition. If anyone would like to get more information on this project or just want to stay updated with the progress feel free to join our community outlets via the website and discord!

As of this post, the website and it's functionality are still a work in progress and everything is subject to change so feel free to make recommendations or offer feedback.

I'm not looking for any specific help, so don't hesitate to reach out with your skills and such!

Here are some pretty sup-par pictures of the beautiful underground spawn commissioned by LeadPro that I took.

Without being too specific, I noticed that many survival servers become redundant and bland after you grind them for a couple days/weeks. The plan with Arcovia is to provide an experience that continues to feel fresh and exciting for players who have been around for days, weeks or even months. Implementing these features while maintaining a vanilla experience is the goal and focus during development.

I appreciate it!

Out of curiosity, what are the features, exactly, that you're planning on implementing? You don't have to go into much detail, but from experience it would pique more interest if you elaborated on a list of custom features that pushes your network to stand out from the rest.

In regards to your thread: Here is a link to my writing / server documentation service. If you go to my portfolio >> gamewriting, you can see my experience in server management. Let me know if there's anything that would be helpful to your endeavors. It's always refreshing to see a project whose owner wants to create an exciting experience, rather than make money.

I appreciate you reaching out and your work is beautiful so I bookmarked your thread to hopefully utilize in the future!

As for specific plans, I've always been a fan of progression and most survival based servers tend to fixate on the Economy as an indicator of progression. However there are many other ways, on top of a balanced economy, that can provide and showcase the 'grind'. For example, if you ever played Elder Scrolls: Skyrim by Bethesda -- they are able to maintain retention rates for so long compared to other games because there are skill trees (Smithing, Alchemy, etc..) that keep the player from growing bored of consistent main/side quests. They don't necessarily alter the main game mechanics but rather make the game easier and more organic as certain abilities are unlocked.

As stated before however, the challenge will be adding features such as skills without veering too far from vanilla and breaking typical game mechanics. And yes, McMMO and other plugins touch on this, but I believe it can be refined to integrate better into a survival experience!
