So recently I got into an argument with someone about the most used Minecraft version on servers, and I looked on bstats since I assumed that would be correct. He said he searched on google and it's 1.8 and I don't really think Google would say the right thing. So I was wondering if Bstats server version statistics are correct.

bStats is correct in the sense that more server owners host servers on the latest versions, because 1.8 is barely used by server owners and developers nowadays just because of how outdated it is. You have to also keep in mind that many servers also turn bStats off, which include most PvP or 1.8 related servers, because of "optimization" reasons. So most servers and server owners are indeed using the latest versions. However, 1.8 is commonly used because of the playerbase, so a lot of players are still using 1.8. But I'm pretty sure a majority of players are on the latest versions, since Dinnerbone gave out statistics a while back on Twitter as well.
