Are Factions/Kit PvP/PvP servers still worth making in 2020?

Hey MCM.

I posted a similar thread somewhat asking for an opinion on a similar matter. I see a lot of newer servers now doing Survival, and SMP type servers. Additionally I'll see anarchy servers, or even a Towny server from time to time. I'm not really interested in making these game modes though, and I always preferred more PvP based game modes.

I've been told by some people that aren't affiliated with MCM that I need to either make a server that is one of those aforementioned game modes, or don't make one at all since every other gamemode is "dead."

I am also aware that minecraft servers are in a state of stagnation (which has been the case for quite some time), and I have a lot of ideas to make something interesting and unique, and just want to make what I want to make regardless of the current climate. I hope you guys can give some opinions.

Generic servers fail, however if you make a good SMP, a good Towny, a good Factions, or a good KitPvP you'll do well.

I totally agree with you. I do have something cool. I’m just afraid that I can’t make a pvp server (like factions or kitpvp for example) because it isn’t popular anymore. Could it still work?

there's still tons of players but you'll just have to see, marketing is the most important part. Just don't expect to profit a lot if you're going to make a server.

Yea I am not doing it for the money. I just always wanted to do this. I just never thought I could because kitpvp/factions etc seems to be dead. I really appreciate the advice as well.
