I wouldn't recommend going with them for high amounts of ram I would recommend you getting a dedicated after like 12gb ram I would recommend a vps. Because more than one person is on each node so it will be way laggy

I mean I have the same specs as that. But if your going above the 24GB+ range. I can setup a dedi server for you if you want?

The biggest impact to your performance will be the HDDs. There really is no reason not to use SSDs these days - they're so much cheaper now and provide a huge performance increase.

Disk IO is also extremely limiting on HDDs and is usually the first bottleneck you'll run into when running Minecraft, especially on a shared host (Minecraft host or VPS). I recommend finding a server with SSDs, even if it's a bit more expensive.

While SSDs have come down in price over time, they are still quite a bit more expensive to put in budget end machines. One of the plans he is looking at is borderline $1/GB, it’s pretty hard to put SSDs in a machine and then offer that price. The second offer however could/should have SSDs at $2/GB.

You should be fine starting out, but faster drives would help you out a bit as time goes on.

When you consider that most dedicated server providers offer pricing that would allow them to break even within ~12 months, $50-100 extra for an SSD is a lot cheaper than it sounds. A huge amount of storage is also not necessary for Minecraft - you can pick up a 250GB SSD through NewEgg for under $90, which would be more than enough for 25GB RAM worth of servers.

The performance increase of the SSD greatly outweighs the price difference. The only case I would say a HDD is worth using is for minigame based servers that don't really need to store or interact with a lot of data on disk.

But with that being said, this is a little off scope and there's little point using SSDs if price is your main consideration and are already using outdated hardware (that would have already been paid off for several years) to lower cost.

The main reason I brought it up is just that HDDs on a shared host can be a concern, due to the fact that the disks are being shared and IOPS are restrictive on HDDs.

The Xeon X5550 is a very old and lowend CPU.
The E5-1650v2 performs much better, however both plans still are on HDDs which will negatively affect performance.

I would suggest looking for a host offering SSDs instead.
