If he is only going to be playing minecraft you do not need a graphics card, minecraft is a cpu type game and would run completely fine without one. My friend used to play on a laptop without a gpu and only a cpu and he used to get like 400fps but not sure what specs he had.

Which one would you recommend JUST for minecraft? I already have a very powerful gaming computer (latest generation of intel i7 and dedicated graphics and 12GB ram etc) I just need a laptop for whenever im not at home.

didnt specify that it was a laptop if your willing to get a pc I could make a bomb ass pc for sub 450 pounds[DOUBLEPOST=1514509326][/DOUBLEPOST]
prebuilts are for peasents
Prebuilts are for whoever get a nice ass deal on them :p. Two years ago I got a I7 5820k 16GB of ram 2tb of hdd storage a monitor and a GTX 960 2gb for $1100, the monitor was 200$ 27" Ultra wide 1920x1080 60hz, The PC alone was 800-900+ the warranty of a year helped when the fucking mobo broke lol. But ive upgraded it since then and it still is an amazing daily driver.

I personally think that this one is the best deal since it would allow you to do more than just play minecraft:
  • Inspiron 15 - 7570
  • Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-8250U (Quad Core, up to 3.40 GHz, 6MB Cache, 15W)
  • Windows 10 Home (64bit)
  • 8GB (1x8GB) 2400MHz DDR4 SDRAM Non-ECC
  • 1 TB SATA Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
  • 128 GB Solid State Hard Drive
  • 4GB NVIDIA GeForce 940MX
  • Software
  • Intel 7265AC + BT4.2 [802.11ac + Bluetooth 4.2, Dual Band 2.4&5GHz, 2x2]
  • LCD Back Cover : Platinum Silver
  • Primary 3-cell 42W/HR Battery
  • 15.6-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS Truelife LED-Backlit Narrow Border Display
  • Internal UK/Irish Qwerty Backlit Keyboard
But if you don't want to pay the extra money and just want to play minecraft then I recommend the first option you gave.

If you're on a budget, I can recommend the GTX 1050ti.

That said, what's your budget for this? Perhaps I can find either a prebuilt or get the parts for a custom one that's better than your current options.
